The Ace Of Spades

As some of you know , yesterday at about 5 AM me and Darky were setting off for Bucharest to attend Day One of the B'esftest festival. The trip went well. The weather was a bit hot. We stopped for a break around 12 in a pretty awesome place called Poiana Brasov.
Anyway around 3 , 3 and a bit we arrived in Bucharest. We waited for the gates to open , thing which happened around 4 and a half. Once in there we got two Cokes and a bag of popcorn and read a newspaper we got for free , waiting for the shows to starts. We were arguing for a bit if to check out the other bands , but in the end we decided to do so (and it turns out we didn't regret it that much).
There were two stages there and before anything started we were already in the first line at the stage Motorhead would concert later. We didn't move for 3 hours , because we didn't want to lose our places.
So at five and a half , the first band came on stage. Les Elephants Bizares was their name and they had a pop-rock thing going on. To our surprise , they were quite good and I can say that overall I enjoyed their show way better than I would have expected. They sent enough energy towards the crowd.. too bad there weren't too many persons arrived by that time.
45 minutes later , the second band came on the other stage . Grimus is an alternative rock band from Romania ( Les Elephants Bizares are also romanians). Their show bored me to death , even though I only listened while sitting on the ground in the front line of the other stage :P They also sang for 45 minutes.
Afterwards , Ayo came in on our stage. She is a soul musician. She put on a show you would generally see in a cafe or bar where some soul artist are jamming. Enjoyable enough , she sang a Jackson 5 cover ( can't remember too well what song ) and she got cheers even from the metalheads there. As she was saying "Music is music. Music is for everyone."
45 minutes later on the other stage , Polarkreis 18 started playing. They were awful in my honest opinion , bringin on an indie/electro/alternative/rock/pop sound thing. At one point , the singer crossed over to the other stage , where the Motorhead fans were all clogged. He got all the "love" made out of fingers and us shouting "Motorhead" or "Lemmy" in his face. During their show , the Motorhead roadies brought up the stuff , the band would need later on. It was then when I saw Murder One , Lemmy's famous amplifier and Mickey Dee's drum set for the first time in my life.
Polarkreis 18 were off the stage now and we were shouting for Motorhead even stronger than before. I also felt the need to visit the bathroom for an hour now , but didn't leave my place xD. Out of nowhere we heard a raw bass sound and they came on. "Hello Romania. We are Motorhead and we sing rock 'n' roll." And the show kicked in. At that point I just felt an impulse and started headbanging like mad while holding the horns up. So were the others . It was as if hell had came there. People were shouting , singing , filming , taking photos. I for one stuck to singing and headbanging. It was the best feeling I felt in my life. So much adrenaline passing through me , the need to headbang even faster... it's pretty much impossible to describe the exact feeling I had then. I'm a guy that considers music to be the only thing he really enjoys to do and hearing a band that passes on so much energy and raw power just sent me blowing up. The show was an old school style one. Few talking , except for when Phill Campbell asked us to shout like madmen because they were searching for the loudest public. Mikkey Dee had a drum solo at the middle of In The Name Of Tragedy ( the song I was looking forward to the most and to which I stopped being a human being and totally changed into a demented headbanger) and he was pretty much amazing. By the end , they finished with Ace Of Spades and Overkill after they had started the show with Iron Horse and Stay Clean. They were clearly happy and pretty amazed at how well everything went on and so were the fans. Not coming here for all these year because of our country being unable to host a show because of different reasons , gathered up all our anger and passion which got expressed during the concert. The press complained about the sound but as Lemmy sais " Only way to feel the noise is when it's good and loud / So good I can't believe it's screaming with the crowd" .When we were about to leave we couldn't walk really well and something hilarious happened. At the exit , some girls were handing free coke cans and when she got to see me she laughed her ass of at the way I was looking. Normally I would mind , but I didn't really care back then.. I felt too good to care (and I knew my hair was a horrible mess xD) So , in the end I could say that it was the best day of my entire life. I feel drawn even more to this genre of music and it has been proven once more. There are no fans as loyal and dedicated as the metalheads. If you bring a pop band or an "easy" rock band , they won't stir anything up. Bring a rock 'n' roll / heavy metal band and you've got yourself one big piece of hell.
What stupified me in the first place was that after Motorhead had finished , Moby came on the stage , being the headliner. You could see half the people leaving after the Motorhead concert , but I hear he put on quite a show (never as good as Motorhead's though). And oh , Darky got a pick from Phil Campbell , the lucker!
On the way back , I couldn't sleep too much , so I was listening to Motorhead on my mobile phone. Now my neck hurts as hell , but at least I can speak better than last night. I've uploaded a few pictures I took on my Photobucket account. Check them out there . I don't feel like clogging the blog right now.
So , this is pretty much it. No ending song today ,folks.
