Ever since the release of Silent Hill 2 Remake, Bloober Team has been on quite a roll. They partnered with Konami for the upcoming Silent Hill f and now teased their upcoming third-person survival horror game, Cronos: The New Dawn. This new horror entry takes place in a dystopian future where retro-futurist technology coexists with Eastern European brutality. The gameplay reveal trailer for the game was recently revealed.
The deteriorating area of New Dawn, modeled after the actual Nowa Huta, is the setting for Cronos: The New Dawn, which takes place in both the post-apocalyptic future and late 1980s Poland. Emerging from a dismal future, you take on the role of a Traveller—an agent of the enigmatic Collective—whose mission is to retrieve important individuals before the end of the world as we know it. The Orphans are hideous opponents you'll face as you explore a planet on the verge of destruction. These monsters are twisted and horrific, spawned from the worst dreams of humanity.
A key aspect of the game is that fallen adversaries don't remain dead for long, as hinted at by the slogan "Don't Let Them Merge" in this most recent release. Existing adversaries can absorb these fallen monsters if you don't burn their bodies. In a macabre process called Merging, monsters can obtain talents that make them stronger, faster, more resilient, and generally hideous.
Cronos: The New Dawn showcases several interesting features, including the recently unveiled fighting system. As the Brutalist buildings crumble under the weight of the anomalies that distort reality, players will get a first look at the game's vicious weaponry and horrifying new adversaries. We also get a sneak peek at some mysterious new individuals, each with their own motivations and secrets. Due to the ominous nature of the game, its story will be full of hidden meanings and an unsettling atmosphere.
Arkadiusz Reikowski, a multi-award-winning composer, added to the suspense with his score for the game. This tune, in particular, has eerie traditional vocals that combine synth horror with bizarre, avant-garde textures. It is the product of a collaboration between Arkadiusz and the Polish-Ukrainian indie folk band Zazula. The outcome is music that is equally creepy and engrossing as the environment you will be exploring. While Bloober Team didn't disclose any specific date, Cronos: The New Dawn will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and dPC later in 2025.
