The Best Xbox Series X Games to Play Right Now
Opinion by SnowWhite on Jan 28, 2021
As lockdown continues for another indefinite period, you may feel like you have played every game you own—endless rounds and more. The beauty of Microsoft offering a backward compatibility service means that with Game Pass you have an incredible catalog of games just waiting for you to play them. So, if you are bored and have the new Xbox series X or are considering buying it for home delivery why not consider some of these cracking games that are considered the best of the rest at the moment.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
Call of Duty has one of the biggest game franchises globally, and in 2020 this was the biggest selling game across the United States of America. It has been around for a while now, but it still offers an incredible amount of gameplay and attracts new players all the time. The game is a little bit retro offering a bit of a 1980s feel, but it plays well on the new Xbox series X, and with the addition of the new controller you get some subtle differences in gameplay that make it worth a download.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla
You can't really mention Call of Duty without mentioning Assassin's Creed, and in this case, we actually think it might just take the edge as the better game. The open-world design offers an incredible amount of detail and is a truly magnificent place to play. Valhalla is an excellent offering from the franchise and is widely hailed as one of the best games of 2020 with expansion packs due to be released this year. The Siege of Paris and the Wrath of the Druids will both give this game even more function and playability as you build your Kingdom with an exceptional 4K resolution. It loads incredibly quickly and gives you endless hours of plundering and pillaging your enemies in this highly addictive console series.
Halo Infinite
Another big name that transfers well to the new Xbox series X is Halo infinite; it debuted at their product launch and shows just how good this fantastic alien interaction game can really be. One of the things we love about this game is the incredible sound effects from the weapons and other characters, giving you the sense of really being in this magical world. Again, the haptic feedback from the controller is impressive, and we are certainly loving the redesigned handset for enhanced gameplay. It is safe to say that the controller has certainly revolutionized the gaming experience.
Dirt 5
So, we get that not everyone is into shoot-em-up games which is why we are adding dirt 5 to our list of honorable mentions. It's a cracking racing game as the title suggests and there are plenty of choices when it comes to your style of driving and the surface on which you race.
Ori and the Will of the Wisps
This is one game that we simply love here in the office, it is the sequel to Ori and the Blind Forest and is another stunning chapter in what is a really well-made 2D platform offering. It is an open world, and you can lose yourself in the vast expanse of multiple region forests which really showcase graphic designers' abilities to bring the 2D world alive. As you move the background scrolls with you, and the way the characters are drawn quickly enables you to see good from evil as your enemies appear dangerous and creepy. This is a game that you will know and love from the Xbox one if you had it, but it is even better when played on Xbox series X. It has an excellent 120 frames per second playing speed and really brings out the best of this already awesome game, undoubtedly worth a look.
Games for All
The library of games on offer is so vast we couldn't possibly mention them all, but whether you are into live-action role-play, cutesy cartoon characters, or dangerous and challenging action games there is certainly something for everyone, and Xbox series X is transforming all of your old favorites into even better and more realistic experiences. It is certainly worth having a look and revisiting anything you thought was good the first time around as well as checking out some of the new stuff that they have added in order to keep their competitive edge in the marketplace. Don't worry if you haven't had time to upgrade your hardware yet, Xbox have sorted supply and demand, and it is now back on the shelves. You will also be able to find a range of online retailers who can deliver it straight to your door meaning you can continue your lockdown in Xbox series X style.
