The Last of Us Multiplayer

Since Naughty Dog revealed The Last of Us they've promised us a multiplayer component that until now was hidden from the public. With the game releasing soon Naughty Dog promised to showcase information regarding the enigmatic mode.
Sony invited the people at Gamefly to a try out 2 multiplayer modes and according to them "walked away impressed by how well the survival action gameplay of the campaign translates in a competitive environment." The first mode was called "Factions" which has you in control of either Hunters or Fireflies, their roles are explained in the single-player campaign. According to Gamefly you play in one of these factions that must collect supplies and complete objectives through a series of matches that progress through the day. Essentially their is a story that propels the fighting, which sounds similar to Max Payne's multiplayer, but Gameplay conveyed it was only to put the fighting in perspective.
Facebook connectivity allows players to populate their faction with actual people and grow your clan. However during a 12 week story you'll make decisions that determine the fate of your allies, but Gamefly explained that it was merely cosmetic.
The objections through these stories are variations of team deathmatch called Supply Raid and Survivors. In Supply Raid teams have a finite amount of respawns and in Survivors every player has one life.
However unlike Uncharted players won't have access to a abundance of ammo and regenerative health. Players will have survive the deadly matches using clever tactics to outsmart their opponents, that and a deadly weapon. Attempting to be a one man army will net you an early death. Players must use their resources wisely and craft deadly tools such as shivs, bombs, and melee weapons.
Moving quietly and quickly seems to be the best tactic as sound will alert players to your location via a radar system. Gamefly discusses how sound and movement are just as essential to victory as having the most powerful weapon. Collecting supplies for permenant or one-time upgrades for yourself is important, however you can choose to donate them to your faction.
However your current objective isn't the only thing you'll have to complete. During a session new sub-missions will spout up that require you to kill a certain number of players.
According to Gamefly these were the only modes shown and they convey if these are the only modes available then things could become repetitive for players. But with the season pass it's no doubt that the game will introduce new additions to the multiplayer.
