Ubisoft is moving in on the free-to-play market. It may not be apparent, but the publisher has a large stock of upcoming browser games, ready to entice people. When it comes to that notion, The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot is one of the major projects to look forward to. With a simple layout, easy to understand gameplay and gratifying action, this multiplayer feature will find its way into many a player’s heart.

Clean, rounded visuals ease gamers into their first journey of castle charging. Bouncy character art continues the cheerful theme, with vibrant decors and colorful lighting to go with it. Monsters aplenty come in different misshapen sizes and sounds. For an easily digested vibe, this game certainly succeeds in its premise.

The goal of the game is to attack custom build castles, either predefined or player owned. These keeps can be built up in different square rooms in an editor with a solid overview. Here, players rotate and swap, place and remove any kind of rooms and obstacles they’d like, in order to keep their treasure safe within their walls. Monsters and traps add certain defense points, which attract higher ranked players in the end. Enhancements need to be purchased with won or collected gold coins.

Therefore, players must also set out to steal said gold from others. They can do so with a selection of different heroes, like a knight or an archer. Each equipped with their respective gear, these fighters will draw upon their strengths for a distinct combat style. Heroes can also be enhanced, by purchasing new skills and unlocking higher tiers in later leveling goals. For instance, an archer can use a trusted hawk friend to help them assault enemies, while the knight simply relies on brawn to deliver crushing strikes.

With these game systems in mind, the stage is set for an adventure that is ever-changing, as any keep can hold a much different set of parameters.  The Mighty Quest for Epic Loot whisks away gamers with straightforward combat that stays refreshing due to aforementioned randomness. It’s swift, slick and steadily hands out loot as it goes along. Since it is free-to-play, it’s also good to know that avid players will be able to upgrade effortlessly without the need for real coin. However, coins can be stolen by enemy players, so maintaining a strong and tactical keep is vital to survival. It’s a dog eat dog multiplayer game, but with medieval Sims castle building. That’s pretty charming indeed. For more information, take a look at our gameplay commentaries below.
