The new Acropolis Museum
Rant by ILIAS on Jun 20, 2009
All eyes were in Athens once again tonight, for the big opening of the Acropolis Museum.
The biggest "excuse" for the British Museum has past and gone and it's time for the lies to stop once and for all.
Large parts of the marbles were stolen by Lord Elgin (with a little help from the Turks of course) and the London Museum (which apparently would have been half empty if it wasn't for the Greek and Egyptian findings) denied to bring them back to its country of origin, because we simply didn't have a proper place to store them (yes that was their official response all those years).
But as of today, Athens has its own, brand new and highly advanced Acropolis Museum. And the time has come for the marbles to be one again, for the puzzle to be completed... The way I see it ? Justice must be served. But a couple of weeks ago, the British Museum proposed to the Greek Ministry to loan (insert huge laugh here) the marbles to us, with the obligation to sign an official statement that these marbles belong to them (insert huge laugh Part II).
I really hope that the London Museum soon change their mind... Marbles are essential to our country, at least we had the luxury to have a great civilization back then, we don't request them to be back, WE DEMAND IT.
Thanks for reading :D

PS 2 : I'll be away on Monday, duty calls again, this time to the country that Marco loves to hate :P
