The World of Virtual Reality

Opinion by Arisu on  Mar 31, 2022

When it comes to Virtual Reality, many of us think of science fiction films like The Matrix or Existenz. However, the truth is that nowadays, this technology has become part and parcel of our daily lives. Yes, we’re talking about medicine, education, video games, and entertainment. Virtual Reality is here to linger on.

The virtual world as an outlet for our time

Technology like virtual reality extends the boundaries of digital possibilities. It’s fuel for the rise of the metaverse. The idea of virtual worlds isn’t that new. Many of us might not realize that we’ve already dealt with earlier versions of the metaverse through platforms like SecondLife or games like The Sims. According to Forbes, we’ve had the possibility to create virtual identities and project our lives onto them.

The most popular games of 2022. What to expect?

Release dates of games are a suggestion rather than a firm commitment. Over the last two years, such events have been pushed back time and again due to Covid-19. Delays are a constant. We wouldn’t be surprised if half of the most anticipated games of 2022 won’t actually come out. You know, some of them will get bumped to 2023 or beyond. That’s how these things go. So, you should always take the following list with a massive grain of salt:

- Elden Ring
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild 2
- Oxenfree 2: Lost Signals

Alternative to shooters and RPGs. Browser games as a new trend

The main advantage of browser games is that they are almost entirely free and easy to navigate. Plus, there are a considerable number of single and multiplayer browser games to choose from. It doesn’t matter if you’re keen on playing online solo or want a new browser game to play with friends.

One must agree that Virtual Reality is no longer sci-fi. It has become integrated into our present and, in the nearest future, it will lead to advances that will define the way of our development.
