Top 5 Most Disappointing Games of 2019 So Far
The worst video games of 2019 so far

2019 is halfway done and while we've had some amazing games there were some that were truly depressing. Here are the top 5 most disappointing games of 2019 so far.
5. S.O.N.
S.O.N. had some incredible potential. The dark environment and unsettling ambiance as a father goes searching for his son hooked many gamers. Then it launched in a very similar way to The Quiet Man, without anyone knowing it was out unless you were keeping track of it. The tone was gritty but the length was shocking. The adventure was only about 30 minutes long and cost $20. This was unacceptable but there were also many complaints that the story was dull and the ending trite. It was like Transference over again, but at least that game had a decent ending.
4. Left Alive
For fans of the series, Left Alive could've been a restart the series needed. However, the game launched with poor visuals, AI, and animations the game was a disaster. The story, while around 10-hours long, suffered from predictable moments and parts where common sense was throw out the window. But what really made Left Alive a chore to play was the slow movement speed of your character, get used to the dodge roll because you'll be spamming that just to move slightly faster.
3. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes
No More Heroes gained its acclaimed reputation for its ridiculous boss fights and bizarre sense of humor. The excellent writing and over-the-top performance kept players engaged as they cut their way through assassin after assassin. So when a new game was revealed, many were excited at first. Then it was revealed to be a top-down hack-and-slash title instead of a free-roaming world.
Instead of fighting insanely and well-designed assassins Travis is tasked with defeating bugs in various video games. It wasn't a terrible title but this wasn't the No More Heroes I remembered. Gone was the bizarre 1v1 battles against deadly and strangely animated bosses. For now, all I can do is what for a proper sequel. With No More Heroes III coming this 2020.
2. Anthem
BioWare was once known for creating some of the greatest games ever made such as Dragon Age Origins, the Mass Effect trilogy, and KOTOR have hit a massive slump. After the release of Mass Effect: Andromeda the once acclaimed studio released another major flop, Anthem.
The beginning hours of the game were amazing, flying around in an Iron Man-like suit, diving into the water, and seeing all the amazing wildlife was breathtaking. Then you started playing and you realize that you've experienced the best the game has to offer. You explore mostly the same areas as you collect gear that, when the game launched, were buggy. The end game lacked any meaningful progression and the DLC promises have been either been delayed or a complete disaster.
Basically, Anthem is everything that could be wrong with a live service game. Instead, go play Monster Hunter World if you're looking for a fantastic live service title.
The Xbox One needed an exclusive win and many Xbox gamers looked to Crackdown 3 to be that victory. Unfortunately, not only was it not a great exclusive it wasn't even a mediocre game. Crackdown 3 was a poor open-world game full of tiresome collectibles, bland missions that repeat the same tasks, and ended with a flat conclusion. It was a cookie-cutter open-world title that played like an early 2000 action-adventure game. For many, this was expected as Crackdown 3 received almost no marketing leading up to its release.
The game's multiplayer mode was a trainwreck. Called Wrecking Crew, the mode lacked any meaningful progression but strangely included the ability to lock-onto enemy targets! This was a competitive third-person multiplayer mode where you can lock-on enemy players, who thought that was a good idea?
With all of Microsoft's exclusive IPs now going multiplatform and the next generation of consoles coming soon, it's safe to say that the Xbox One died as it lived. As an entertainment box.
