The best boss fights from the Doom franchise
by Grayshadow on Jan 11, 2016
Since it was first released in 1993 Doom is widely considered to be one of the most influential titles in gaming history. With the next installment in this legendary franchise rumored to be released soon we’ve decided to count down the best boss battles across all the Doom games. Here are out top five Doom boss battles.
5. Maledict - Doom 3 - Resurrection of Evil
Formerly known as Dr. Malcolm Betruger this deranged lunatic started the whole mess on Mars in Doom 3. From the start this possessed scientist continuously hounds the player with sadistic messages about death and failure. It’s here that players will finally get the chance to shove their fist down this Doctor’s throat, well two throats.
4. Doom 64 - Mother Demon
This ghastly four-armed creature will quickly make mincemeat of anyone foolish enough to fight her unprepared. Without the Unmaker this demon is one of the most difficult battles in the Doom franchise. That intense feeling of being overpowered and managing to succeed made all those frustrating deaths worth it, a little.
3. The Guardian - Doom 3
After entering Hell for the first time the player must face a horde of deadly demons before being confronting the Guardian. This hulking behemoth is all that stand between you and the Soul Cube. What made this boss truly amazing is not only overcoming on of Hell’s most powerful guardians but gaining a powerful new weapon. What’s the point of defeating a deadly boss if there’s no reward?
2. Sabaoth - Doom 3
Sabaoth isn’t a difficult fight, with one use of the Soul Cube and a couple of rockets this demonic hybrid can easily be disposed of. What made this fight engaging was events leading up to the battle. Haunting dialogue leading up to the battle against Sergeant Kelly made getting to the fight better than the brawl.
1. Cyberdemon - Doom
Perhaps one of the most iconic bosses in the Doom franchise the Cyberdemon has made multiple appearances throughout the Doom franchise. While different iterations have made this creature a formidable opponent his classic form remains the highlight over the rest.
