Chapter 2:

Kissed with problems

She rolls out of bed, still tired. She stretches with a yawn and starts to head to the bathroom. The sun’s already peaked for the day. Once refreshed she dress up in her elegant white dress, and then starts to fix her hair. Her lavishing brown locks flow as if silk, as a knock echoes softly from the door.

“Come in, I’m only fixing my hair.”

“Hello my love, you seem to be in a good mood. Sleep well?”

“Mmm I did, Ricardo, I did.”

I chuckle to myself quietly when she smiles are me with those devious enchanting brown eyes. She strokes her once more then whips her hair back in a rather seductive way. With a gentle step she presses to me and kisses my cheek. I smile as I take her hand and we walk out of our room.

“Where did you go this morning?”

“I went for a walk out in the courtyard. To enjoy the sweet air that’s fallen around us.”

“I would have joined you.”

“If I had asked you would have needed support or would have been too tired. I found it best to allow you to enjoy your dream; I could tell you where having a good one.”

“I was, all my dreams are good, I mean you are in each of them.”

I laugh again as she pulls on my arm, as if asking for warmth. My laughter quiets was a warm smile covers my face. I take a deep breath as the two of us walk out in to the dining room. Hundreds of people talk and laugh, but at the moment of our entrance, all voices quiet, and we walk slowly to the head table across the room. I stand before each of them, with my seat behind me. To my right she stands, smiling, stunning all eyes. To my left stands King Sarwar, the only other man of equal power to mine. I announce to all of our guests of his arrival. He quickly stands to give a few words.

“It’s not often that your King and Lord cross paths. The two of us are very busy with me traveling all around to ensure that the laws are being enforced, and with your Lord rooting out the rebellions and destroying them. We live in perfection, and the rebels wish to return it to the way it was. No one wants to return to being controlled by companies that want us as cheap labor. The two of us fought to stop it and now we fight to keep our perfection. I will be in these lands for the next month then I’m off to the next area of business. So for now, let’s enjoy out feast.”

And with that the crowd implodes in to massive roar of approval. Cheers and howls fill the room as he stands holding a goblet up. I place my hand up to calm them, to allow my words to be spoken.

“Well you are every welcome in our lands King. But what he says is true, after three years the rebels still fight to allow big business to rule. I fight every day to smother there flames, but it seems that sparks keep jumping. Those mean that are trying to smack down what we have are some of the CEO’s of those big companies. I’ve yet to find them but when I do, justice will be given. I swear it. Now, enjoy, I’ve the hunger of ten men.”

Laughter fills the room but then dies down in to the conversations of earlier. Me, Sarwar, and my Love all sit down to enjoy the meal, but even when we try, the reality of what we are fighting sinks in.

“I’m sorry Ricardo but it’s true, the rebels have allied themselves with the countries to the Deep South. I fear that they may form an army that rivals ours.”

“Yes I’ve come to that conclusion myself. Well at worst point we do have our secret weapons.”

“We do but they are untested and tend to backfire.”

“What else are we going to do? Sit here and twiddle our thumbs as they come in as wipe us out? I won’t allow it. I alone will fight them if I mean’s none of our mean are harmed. If my life for there’s would be enough so be it.”

“You shall do nothing of the sort, your too valuable to the lands; you are the hope and beacon for them.”

“I know, but I never asked for that, I just wanted to take over, settle the lands in to perfection then step down to enjoy my life with my heart’s second half. I wanted a place for my kids to grow up and not have to worry about them facing a premature death.”

“Isn’t that what we all want?”

“No not everyone. If we all did it would have happened along ago. But because of those few who don’t care, or who enjoy pain we can’t have that. Because of them every day we lose more men to the attacks of the rebellion. I will stop them.”

“I know how you feel Ricardo, just please, control your temper, you need not let your people know that you’re stressed. Our moral won’t be will with a suffering lord.”

“Sorry, it’s just too much for us. No one is willing to help us but they still want the results.”

I slouch back in to my seat, head pounding with all the problems that are surfacing in front of us. Sarwar stands up and heads to his chambers to check on a few maps as the guest start to leave. I sit there looking out at the stars shining brighter tonight then they ever have. She walks back from the open patio over to me. She places her hand on my shoulder and smiles down at me.

“I love you Ricardo.”

“I love you too….”

I fall asleep whispering her name as she comes down to kiss me…
