Xbox One not compatible with Xbox 360
News by Grayshadow on May 23, 2013
The people at Engadget have learned that the Xbox One will not play Xbox 360 discs and your Xbox Live Arcade purchases will not transfer to the new console.
According to Engadget the reason is because the Xbox One runs on a x86 processor architecture and the Xbox 360 runs on PowerPC. This prevent Xbox One from running Xbox 360 titles.
A represenative from Mircrosoft told Engadget that "We care very much about the investment people have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future" and "to play an entirely new generation of games -- games that are architected to take full advantage of state-of-the-art processors and the infinite power of the cloud."
However that gamerscore and tag you've cultivated will transfer.
