According to Xbox Wire The Xbox One will need to be connected to the internet at least once every 24 hours or the ability to play games will shut down. This is for the player's own console, if the user attempts to log into a seperate console than they must connect every hour instead of every 24 hours.
"With Xbox One you can game offline for up to 24 hours on your primary console, or one hour if you logged on to a separate console accessing your library. Offline gaming is not possible after these prescribed times until you re-establish a connection, but you can still watch TV and enjoy Blu-ray and DVD movies." This is to ensure that all games, applications, and the system is up to date while also veriflying if you purchased a new game, resold it, traded it, or gave it to someone else.
Microsoft recommends that you own a broadbrand internet connection of 1.5Mbps for the Xbox One. Those without one are recommended to use a mobile broadbrand connection. The Xbox One will have 2 wireless atennas, and a gigabit Ethernet port and 802.11n wireless.
