Since its release on the Xbox 360, fans have been requesting Remedy Entertainment to make a new Alan Wake. A protoype for the sequel did eventually emerge, it was repurposed as Alan Wake's American Nightmare.
Since then, Remedy Entertainment has developed Quantum Break and is working on the upcoming gravity supernatural shooter Control. But during a conversation on IGN Unfiltered, Sam Lake explained that Remedy is indeed interested in making Alan Wake 2.
In a new conversation with IGN, Lake spoke about Alan Wake
“I want to make it,” Lake said blatantly. “At this point, so much time has passed. I feel that the bar is higher in some ways. It needs to be done right if it’s ever done. Remedy owns the publishing rights to Alan Wake after purchasing them from Microsoft. It's possible the studio could start the project after Control's release. But it's likely we won't see it until the next console generation.
