In the wake of its first DLC, They Shall Not Pass, Battlefield 1 just recevied its announced Spring Update, which comes with an entire array of features and changes. The biggest feature is the introduction of Platoons. Players of previous Battlefield titles should be familiar with what these are but, for those who don't know, they're basically clans of sorts. Joining a platoon will give you the option of representing it in matches, which will add the platoon's tag before your name, while replacing your emblem with the platoon's. Should your platoon aid in a flag capture, a smaller flag with its emblem will be seen on the point. There's a limit of 100 people per platoon at the moment. While you can only represent one platoon at any given time, you can be a member of up to 10 of them. Platoon names are also not exclusive.
As new weapons were requested, new variants of the rank 10 unlocks have been added. These include the Hellriegel 1915 Defensive, Selbtslader 1906 Sniper, Huot Automatic Optical and, the one I'm most eager to try out, the Martini-Henry Sniper. Grenades are also seeing some changes. A good amount of them are having their blast radiuses reduced. Lethal grenades will see increased resupply timers. Most importantly, however, grenades will not resupply unless the player is near a resupply crate. This sounds like a rollback of the recent approach DICE took to grenades, having them resupply automatically after a given amount of time, regardless of where the player was.
You can head on over to the game's website for the full Spring Update notes.
