Capcom Announces Resident Evil 6
News by Aaron on Jan 20, 2012
Capcom ended months of speculation Jan. 19 with the announcement of Resident Evil 6. The announcement came via press release and an official trailer, which features series mainstays Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield.
Resident Evil 6 will have two separate story threads, each with a different character as its lead. Kennedy will fight undead hordes in the United States, 10 years after the Raccoon City incident. Redfield, meanwhile, will combat an outbreak in China. Once again, the antagonists will be bioterrorists.
This is the first game in the series to feature both its male leads, and the press release alludes to new characters joining the two in the “dramatic horror experience.”

Leon Kennedy makes his triumphant return.
“Resident Evil 6 represents a giant stride forward in the evolution of the series,” said Katsuhiko Ichii, head of R&D and Global Marketing for Capcom. “The development team, led by Hiroyuki Kobayashi, is working tirelessly to deliver the most impressive Resident Evil title ever both in terms of scope and production values. We are all genuinely excited by the title and cannot wait to share it with the world.”
Hiroyuki Kobayashi, who has produced such titles as Resident Evil 4, Killer7 and Dragon’s Dogma, is credited as Resident Evil 6’s lead developer.
“From the outset the team’s intention was to create an experience that delivers a gripping storyline, tense single-player and co-op action all set against a constant theme of horror,” Kobayashi said. “We are calling this fusion dramatic horror and are confident it will resonate with both existing fans of the series as well as newcomers.”
Resident Evil 6 will be available Nov. 20 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
