Massive multiplayer online (MMO) game Crossout is grouping up its doomsday cars for a new soccer season. The Steel Championship update will allow players to participate in the game's version of Rocket League.
For starters, car soccer will be possible on a new map, called the Ravagers Foothold. The map is aptly ovaloid, with rounded edges, exactly like you'd see in Rocket League, but with added grappling hooks.
In continuing similarities, matches are three-on-three players, last for five minutes and will run in overtime if no one scores more than the other team. In overtime, golden goal rules apply, meaning the first to score wins. If overtime runs for five more minutes without a winner decided, the game ends in a draw. Adversely, should a team get up to a five goal lead, the game is decided then and there. Players are rewarded as a team, with everyone accruing the same rating points, based on the amount of goals they are ahead of the opponent.
The soccer event will have ten different league tiers, from Rust to Diamond. Players use rating points to buy into a match, with the exception of Rust, which does not need rating points. Additionally, once a tier is achieved, you can no longer drop into a lower bracket. Rating points aren't deducted if those players are bottomed out in a certain tier. The top two tiers also come with a unique epic item.
Participating in the Steel Championship event will yield players Badges. This resource can be used to craft special items, such as paint cans and stickers. For players who missed out on prior football events, crafting can also be used to unlock previous event items.
The Steel Championship update also brings a map rework, clan battles and other balance changes to Crossout.
