New God of War Project Surfaces Thanks to a LinkedIn Update
A former Sony Santa Monica writer accidentally reveals a Faye-centered game in the God of War universe.

It turns out the latest potential God of War project didn't leak through a dramatic hack or a secret insider report—it happened because someone updated their LinkedIn profile. You read that right. No clandestine leaks, just a former Sony Santa Monica writer trying to polish their resume and accidentally sharing something that was not meant to be public yet.
These kinds of slip-ups happen more often than you'd think. When someone spends years under NDA on a game, it becomes their daily life. Meetings, emails, story discussions, gameplay pitches—everything revolves around that project. By the time they leave and update their professional profiles, it's easy to forget that the outside world has no idea this project exists. What feels like common knowledge to them is still a secret to everyone else.

This seems like what happened here. After leaving Sony in September of last year, a former senior writer there updated their LinkedIn profile. They had worked there for about five years. In hindsight, updating a LinkedIn profile was a completely normal career move, but the job description included a detail that caught people's attention right away. The update said that it would help shape the story and creative direction for a new God of War franchise at Sony's Santa Monica. A new series set in the God of War universe—something that the public definitely didn't know about.
You can picture the moment someone at Sony realized the announcement had gone live.
The screenshot went viral almost right away. Gaming sites picked it up, social media went crazy, and all of a sudden, a simple LinkedIn update turned into a full-blown leak. Things got even more interesting when some well-known people who worked there began supporting it.
Jason Schreier said that the information might be true, and Nate the Hate added more information. Several sources confirmed parts of the story, making it clear that the mistake wasn't just a random one but probably a project that had been quietly in the works.
The project takes place in the God of War universe but focuses on Faye, Kratos's wife. Faye, whom we never got to play as, quietly shaped the entire Norse saga. The events of God of War 2018 and Ragnarok largely stem from her decisions. She set Kratos and Atreus on their journey and is the presence whose ashes they carry across the realms. She hovers over the story even though we barely see her directly. A game centered on her suddenly makes a lot of sense in this context.

The story gets even more intriguing when looking back at old interviews with Cory Barlog.
In some clips, he says he always knew how Kratos and Faye’s story would play out. He planned the story but kept it a secret to maintain the mystery that made the Norse saga stronger. The more you think about it, the more it seems like this Faye-focused project has been in the works for years, building on a foundation, brick by brick, that the developers laid long ago.
It gives you an interesting look at how a small action, like changing your LinkedIn profile, can end up showing off big projects. Even though Sony hasn't officially confirmed anything yet, reports from people who work there and information from past interviews suggest it's very likely that a new God of War game will explore new areas of the series. This leak doesn't just give you a hint; it gives you a full look at what could be the next chapter in the God of War universe.
