Microsofts Xbox Game Pass service has managed to amass a total of 18 million users, a Microsoft earnings report confirms.

The user base is up 3 million since the last report from September last year.

These impressive stats come just days after the company's price hike blunder, with the steeply increased price of Xbox Live from $60 to $120.

This was quickly reversed with the company backtracking on the price increase, instead enabling users to now play free-to-play titles without the need of an Xbox Live subscription.

The inability to play free-to-play games without a subscription has been a point of contention for some time, so this is a positive direction.

Microsoft frequently offers Game Pass at $1 for the first month, with the current offer being $1 for the first three months.

It's clear that Game Pass is here to stay, and considering its low entry point: it's easy to understand its popularity.
