Despite being over 1 year old Overwatch is getting more free content in 2018 in the way of skins, but Blizzard isn't stopping with that. According to director Jeff Kaplan "a ton of new content" is coming next year.

"We have a ton of new content coming. Not only are there some really awesome items coming for upcoming events, early next year we'll be adding *a lot* of new items to the base loot box. You don't have long to wait!"

While Kaplan wasn't willing to share what was coming we can expect events, special match types, and unique skins. This has been a recurring theme since Overwatch first released, with regular timed events happening during specific holidays and special festivals. The last being the Halloween event that added new skins, reintroduced last year's Halloween's skins and added a refined version of the Horde Mode Junkenstein's Revenge.

Despite the toxic community problems developers have continued to provide new content for Overwatch free of charge. The latest is a brand new Support hero named Moira and a Blizzard theme park map. With Christmas almost here we can expect a special holiday-themed event to release soon as well.

Overwatch is now available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.
