Among all the character reveals Masahiro Sakurai took the time to explain the details regarding Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's online functions and matchmaking.
Most importantly, For Glory and For Fun have been removed. Now players will be matched based on preferred rules that include stage, match type, and rate of items.
Also new is the Global Smash power which will determine your skill level and your GPS number. The more fights you win, the higher your skill level. If you reach high enough you'll gain access to Elite Battles, a special option for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's best players.
Sakurai did mention that they strongly recommend players use a LAN connection to ensure stable battles.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate launches this December 7th for Nintendo Switch. Also confirmed was Ken from Street Fighter and Incineroar from Pokemon.
