Ubisoft is dedicated to turning their games into a service with Rainbow Six Siege leading the charge. Despite a rough launch the game has amassed millions of players and has released a multitude of content updates, with the most recent being called Outbreak that adds a new PvE mode, new operators, and new cosmetics. During a panel at the 2018 Invitational Finals Ubisoft confirmed that they have 2 unnamed triple-a games in development to release by April 2019 and no plans for a sequel to Rainbow Six Siege.
It was mentioned that the game will have continued support for up to 10 years, with 3 new operators coming in Year 3 and a goal of 100 operators. Finka and Lion are the 2 latest operators to join Rainbow Six Siege.
Ubisoft confirmed that improvements to the observation toll are taking precedence and maps are getting some renovations. To ensure a more balanced experience.
LAN-based competitions will be happening soon but no updates of when.
