Mafia II (PC)

Highly anticipated. Extraordinary popularity of the previous game. Millions of gamers will play this game. 2K Games had a great responsibility publishing this game. Were they successful? Let’s find it out in short.

Everything about the Mafia game has to be its plot. As I won’t be running your fun, I will only say it was well done. Great characterization with require depth in characters. More like you are playing in real life story. It’s not like you get into the game and become a Don straight away. The previous game’s plot was made based on the God Father movie, and you knew what was going to happen after which sequence. Not in Mafia II though. It’s a complete new story with suspense in every single episode. You do things which you never do in any other third person action game. Boring works like loading goods to a truck, cleaning toilets and stand up and pass cigar boxes. You’d feel like pulling your hair out while doing this, but they way voice and character movements were implemented with these types of act in the game, you’d rather enjoy it. Now, let’s get to my usual style.

The Good:

- Graphics is good. I won’t say shiny though. It’s obviously not the fault of the developers. They kept it as similar as America was during the 50s. During the game, the cops will make you follow the red light rule while driving and speed driving too. So the open worldness of Mafia II was realistic. Even no one leaves his car unlocked in the road while parked. You need to unlock every single car’s key if you are stealing. Annoying, but realistic. Voice and music was good too.

- Shooting is fun. Though you get to use only few types of guns.

- Catchy story.

- Cool unlockable. Including posters, artworks, game covers (I’ve uploaded few here) and covers of playboy magazine. Seriously, you can unlock all the popular playboy female models during that time. And most of them are naked ;P

The Bad:

- Very short game. According to my Xfire count, it only took me 9-10 hours in medium mode.

- When the game ends, everything ends. You can’t utilize the open world and play it life GTA. No fun missions, nothing.

- Lack of side missions. Actually, there is nothing called side mission in this game.

- You don’t get a chance to have some money to spend. Seriously though! I wanted to get rid of the crappy looking suit I was wearing the whole time but I never get the chance to buy a nice suit like others, because I’m always broke.

- Too easy. Even on the Hard mode. When the game is M rated, it must have harder options. I was annoyed when everything was going too easy.

- Lack of good save options. Whether you get into a mission and get the game saved or you need to travel back home and sleep to save the game.

Final thoughts : Just wait till the prices drops. It’s a kind of game for which you don’t have to be excited like me.
