Do you remember Star Lords, which we previewed a long time ago? Well, that game is sort of dead, because it’s now called Lords of the Black Sun. In good news, that version of the game has been flourishing on Steam through Early Access for a while now and it just introduced a new Beta version with some additional game elements.
Its biggest marker would be that the Beta adds some rudimentary multiplayer options. It only has an IP connect or LAN possibility, but it’s there. You’ll just need to put some effort in, like in the old days. Steam lobbies are forthcoming though, so don’t be too upset. Let’s see if this works first.

Since 4X conquest games often require a lot of information on the screen, the new user interface changes might come in handy as well. Screens are now enlarged, cleaned up and made visually more pleasing. You’ll also be able to find new tech trees, ship parts and more. It’s a pretty big update. Of course, this comes with bug fixes and some balancing.
Lords of the Black Sun is under the Iceberg Interactive banner, which we interviewed pretty recently. They took giant leaps over our Star Lords questions, but all the other material in there is pretty interesting.
For your information: We asked in what obvious manner the reveal of Guardians of the Galaxy from Marvel, which has a Star-Lord character, lead to the name change, since it was conveniently announced at the same time. Then, we went on with pointing out that a “Black Sun” is a known Nazi symbol. We wanted to know how they felt about that. They didn’t feel too chipper about either of those things. That’s business, right?
In more random facts: Lords of the Black Sun is pretty much a one-man operation. That’s pretty impressive.
