Far Cry 5 features a brand new villain named Joseph Seed. Leading a cult called Eden's Gate he has taken over Hope County, Montana and it's up to you to lead a Resistance against him. With Far Cry 5 about a month away, we've made a list of 12 things you should know before the game releases this March. Here are 12 things you should know about Far Cry 5.
1. Guns for Hire
You won't be able to take down Eden's Gate without help. Throughout your adventure, Far Cry 5 will include an array of Guns for Hire allies. Some will be story specific and some optional. These allies will have unique abilities, allowing them to benefit you in different ways. However, you'll to earn their loyalty if you want their help.
2. Animal Buddy
Humans are not the only things you can recruit in Far Cry 5. Similar to Far Cry Primal players can tame and recruit animals to aid in your quest. Like Primal some animals will be better at certain tasks such as stealth, power, and event fetching weapons.
3. Bring a Buddy
Far Cry 5 will feature a fully realized cooperative mode that can only be accessed by friends. This means no matchmaking, only people on your friend's list can join. You can play through the entire campaign with an ally, share ammo, and keep all the progression you make even when in someone else's game.
4. Xbox One X and PS4 Pro Enhanced
Those with a premium console will be able to reap the benefits of the added power. Xbox One X and PS4 Pro owners will gain specific enhancements to their gaming experience, however, Ubisoft hasn't revealed what. It's likely it'll be 4K support.
5. No More Mini-Map
Perhaps the biggest change is the removal of the mini-map. Ubisoft has removed the map to provide a more seamless exploration experience. As someone who played Far Cry 2 this was one of my most hated features but perhaps Far Cry 5 will change this.
6. Radio Towers Are Gone
The Radio Tower system has become a dull experience, forcing players to climb these things to fully extend their map. However, Far Cry 5 has removed these to encourage exploration. A welcome addition and hopefully a permanent one.
7, Melee Combat
Far Cry 5 is expanding melee combat with more options to choose from. Judging from the gameplay Far Cry 5 will feature deadly hand-to-hand combat found in previous games. With daggers and baseball bats to pitchforks and sledgehammers.
8. Fishing Like Noctis
If you want to take a break from the carnage you can pull out your fishing rod and start fishing at almost any body of water.
9. More Cars
Ubisoft is adding more options for vehicles in Far Cry 5. With trucks, muscle cars, ATVs, and even helicopters. The developers have included an array of options to choose from when trying to stop Joseph Seed and his cult.
10. Character Creation
In keeping with its focus on player freedom and choice, this time gamers can create their own protagonist, including their gender. How this will play out in the game's story is yet to be seen but it's refreshing to see Ubisoft experimenting with new systems.
11. Map Editor
The map editor is making a return for those who enjoy making their own creations. Using the creation tools gamers can create and share their own creations online. Ubisoft hasn't gone into details of what will be included but they did confirm it'll be much more extensive than previous games.
12. Resistance Points
Each region of Hope County is controlled by a specific person. By completing missions players earn Resistance Points. Once you've gained enough the leader of the region will come out of hiding to face you. Essentially no matter what you're doing Far Cry 5 ensures you're building towards a goal.
