In the same way Dragon Age deviated from the format, there’s a growing divide into what exactly the Belmont legacy has to mean in Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2. In this action-oriented iteration, things move away further than ever before, as Dracula is now the protagonist, instead of the ultimate goal. Previous fast-paced combat in an open environment will stay, so will the climbing and platform elements of giant boss sections. It’s a shallow entertainment experience, but it’s exponentially enhanced by pristine production values and attachments to other successful franchises like God of War, DmC and Shadow of the Colossus.
We play through some of the game, to give you an idea of what to expect. You’ll get to see a detailed view of most features, such as different melee elements, vampire abilities and light platform elements. There may even be one or two features you might have not picked up on, if you’ve played the demo yourself, so tune in on the gameplay commentary below for more details.
