Mankind Divided improves on everything that Human Revolution succeeded in and needed work on

Back in 2011 Deus Ex: Human Revolution Adam Jensen took on impossible odds outside his control. Now the world has changed since the events of Human Revolution, augmented people are now ostracized from society and forced into ghettos following the events of the first game. Once a security agent for a Sarif HQ Jensen returns to stop terrorist attacks caused by Augmented Resistance Coalition, or ARC, while attempting to stop the Illuminatti’s hold on humanity.
The demo didn’t showcase the social or exploration elements that will be present in the final game but highlights many of the new gameplay additions. Gone are the need to consume massive quantities of candy bars, energy is now infinite and life regenerates. This doesn’t mean that the game won’t provide challenging situations, but Jensen is more than equipped to handle any challenge.
During the presentation a series of new elements were shown such as the weapons interface, cover system and augments. Taking elements from Crysis and Dishonored Adam can now dash large distances using the Icarus Dash and swap to different ammunition types on the fly. As a fan of Human Revolution this new interface will provide a seemless experience, especially when in combat.
This was Human Revolution’s biggest weakness, with certain sections robbing players of choice altogether. This has been addressed with combat elements receiving a drastic update, playing more like a third-person shooter. Weapons are easily accessed through a wheel interface, augmented powers can be accessed quickly. However if players want to avoid killing the presenter, Alexandria, addressed that players can indeed go through the game without killing anyone. If you choose to forgo this option and kill everyone or switch between the two styles on the fly. Turn on your cloaking or switch harden your armor and become a walking tank, Adam Jensen is built to take on anything.
If you choose to tackle missions from the shadows be prepared to creatively think about each situation. Like Human Revolution multiple infiltration options are available, but it’s up to the player to seek them out. Hacking has returned with both the classic Human Revolution node taking and a new minigame that looks similar to the one in BioShock 2.
Despite the recent pre-order fiasco Deus Ex: Mankind Divided takes everything that made the first game incredible and improving on all its weaknesses. Improved combat mechanics, more augmentations and a diverse story filled with elaborate characters and daring adventures was only a taste of what Mankind Divided has to offer.
