In Dune: Awakening, crafting Cobalt Paste is essential for progression, and to do so, you will need a rare resource called the Erythrite Crystal. This guide walks you through the exact steps to obtain these crystals and create Cobalt Paste using the Small Chemical Refinery.

With proper preparation, you can safely explore the required locations and gather what you need with minimal resistance.

Crafting Cobalt Paste

You will craft Cobalt Paste in the Small Chemical Refinery, similar to how Silicone Blocks are made. The interface is recognizable, and the ingredients needed for one unit of Cobalt Paste are Water and two Erythrite Crystals. Learning where to locate these crystals is the crucial first step.

Locating Erythrite Crystals

Begin by zooming out on your map and looking toward the right-hand side. The tooltip will indicate that Erythrite Crystals can be found in Hagga Rift, but they are more concealed than they initially appear.

Within Hagga Rift, there is a large cavern that is consistently dark and surprisingly safe. This area offers a secure passage to the northern section of the map without requiring travel above ground. Along this rift, you will encounter multiple Choam Mineral Extraction Facilities, each marked with a specific icon.

One of these is located halfway up the rift, another at the upper corner before the rift turns left, and a few more just down the path, including two just before the next bend. Inside the cavern, there are a lot of these facilities that are hard to miss.

Safe Entry and Navigation

To enter the cavern without trouble, head from the southern side via Rift Watch. There is a flat section suitable for sandbike travel. This road has a smooth, direct path through the cavern, making exploration easy and relatively safe.

Identifying the Extraction Facilities

The Choam Facilities are easy to find because there aren't many other sites nearby. Once you get close, you can't miss the glowing red crystal forms.

These are the Erythrite Crystals needed for crafting. To harvest them, a Cutteray Mk2 or higher is required. Harvesting yields the crystals directly.

Additional crystals can be found inside the Choam Facilities, but there may also be enemies there. Although enemies are usually not very present, you should still be ready for some small resistance.

Within these buildings, there are crystals arranged along different walls. Perhaps parkour, climbing, and creative movement are needed to get to them.

After collecting the required Erythrite Crystals, return to the Small Chemical Refinery. Mix Water with the crystals to craft Cobalt Paste and continue progressing through your crafting objectives.
