Intel in Dune Awakening is the main currency used for advancing through the research tree and obtaining crucial upgrades to guarantee your survival on Arrakis.

Whether you want to strengthen your Base defenses, build better equipment, or upgrade your Weapons to a higher tier, understanding the effectiveness of farming Intel will significantly boost your advancement through the game's progression in Dune: Awakening.

Understanding the Research System

When you open your menu, the research tab will be visible at the top of your screen. Your menu displays several kinds of upgrades and technologies that you can research as you move along in Dune: Awakening.

Although actual categories are not the most important, it is ideal to unlock them based on your long-term requirements. If you are going to expand your Base, ensure that you prioritize building-related upgrades in your research tree.

The tier system organizes upgrades according to the metals required for crafting: Iron, Steel, Aluminum, Duraluminum, and Plastanium. You need to spend some amount of Intel to advance a tier.

The Progression tab lets you see how much Intel you need to spend to reach the next tier. For example, when you have 92 Intel and need to unlock Aluminum Products, you may only need to spend an additional 23 Intel to reach that tier.

As you unlock your required items from your research tab, your Intel points will be spent according to the specified amount for each unlock in Dune: Awakening.

The game records your spending, and once you pass certain spending milestones, new levels become available. To illustrate, unlocking the Duraluminum level may necessitate a cumulative total of 700 Intel across all research areas.

Source for Intel Points

Intel is available in two general ways in Dune Awakening. The first is through collecting Green Holograms that you'll find throughout your Quests and raiding Camps. These are very crucial for your progression, so be extra vigilant when looking out for them and grab every single one you see on your exploration.

The second way of acquiring Intel is through character progression. Each time you level up your character, you also receive Intel as a reward. The quantity depends on your current level threshold. The lower levels may give you three Intel per level, then five, then ten, then twenty, and then keep going upwards until your maximum level of 200 in Dune: Awakening.

Prior to setting out for any Intel hunting expedition, ensure that you scout every site using your Binoculars or your Survey Probe. Scouting reveals all the camps within the region, eliminating the need for random searching, which can be pretty frustrating.

Having scouted an area, you can ignore the visited camps and concentrate on the unvisited ones.

You can check if a camp has any unclaimed Intel or not by moving your mouse cursor over it on the map. If the tooltip reads "Intel zero out of one," then you have not yet extracted the Intel from that location.

Camps that don't show Intel information simply don't have any Intel sources.

Best Farming Locations

Various parts of the map yield different amounts of Intel per camp, and hence, some areas are far more worthy of attention for farming. Hagga Basin South is the initial area and produces the lowest quantity of Intel rewards, each camp yielding three Intel points in Dune: Awakening.

If you travel through Vermilious Gap, the value of Intel rises to five for each camp. If you travel northwest to Jabal and Hagga Rift in the top right-hand corner of the map, you will get camps that award ten Intel for each.

The more difficult ones, such as Shield Wall, O'odham, and Sheol, reward much better, paying twenty Intel per camp. There is a high amount of Intel in the core region of Haga Basin, and if you can survive the difficulty, it is a good farm location in Dune: Awakening.

The Deep Desert is the last farming spot for Intel, but it is a risky and demanding endeavor. Shield Wall positions in this area are located within PvE areas and reward thirty Intel per lab.

Specific labs have two sources of Intel, and these can reward sixty Intel points if you hit them repeatedly, although this may be intended for a future exploit and might be patched. So farm them when you have the chance.

Traversing the whole PvP area of the Deep Desert is the highest-paying Intel in the game, and labs pay forty Intel for every lab. Keep in mind that these areas put you into player combat, so ensure that you are suitably equipped and prepared for encounters in Dune: Awakening.

Deep Desert provides a distinct benefit with its weekly reset system. While at other locations, Intel sources are permanently gone once you raid the camps,

Deep Desert Labs replenishes its Intel on a weekly basis. This makes them a perfect renewable source of Intel for end-game building.

Strategic Methods of Intel Gathering

Instead of processing lower-class areas in order, you can skip first-off areas and work on building higher-reward areas. This gives the highest ratio of Intel per hour, but you need to have good Gears and Weapons in order to defeat the enemies in the higher-risk zone areas in Dune: Awakening.

You not only need good Gears and Weapons but also a character with decent abilities. Make sure to unlock all the skills of a class that suits your playstyle before entering these zones.

Always scout out new sites prior to starting your Intel collection runs. Scouting not only gives you campsites but will also enable you to plan efficient routes with the shortest amount of travel time.

It is recommended that you bring enough ammo while you raid these Intel camps, and also bring a Vehicle Backup Tool to store your Sandbike while you are inside the camp. Your vehicle might get damaged if you take a long time to get the Intel Points.

Set some Respawn beacons in case you die accidentally while raiding the camp.

Bringing plenty of Medkits and a Holtzman shield is essential when raiding camps. If you sustain serious injuries, retreat while your shield is active and use your medkits.

Scanning over camps and checking their Intel status saves time wasted on already-exhausted sites.

Note that your banked Intel in the UI doesn't contribute towards tier unlock points until you use it for research.

Attempt to get the most out of Intel by unlocking tiers that come in hand with what you're playing for, whether that be expansion of bases, equipment manufacturing, or access to higher-level Weapons and Gear.
