We can sit here and argue that 2009 was a lackluster year in video gaming. There weren't an overload of outstanding games, especially if you were a 360 or Wii owner. Maybe we were spoiled by recent years. 2008 was possibly one of the greatest years ever in gaming.
Nevertheless, if one game was here to amaze us all it was Uncharted 2: Among Theives. Complete with a great story line that takes you on an intriguing adventure to find the lost treasure of Marco Polo. The gameplay is some of the best available in any action game to date, with great shooting and hand-to-hand controls. The game also has great platforming to add variety. Also there are many areas where stealth is required, giving a fun challenge in having to find ways around without alerting the enemy. Needless to say the gameplay is fun.
Improving on a problem that plagued the oringinal, Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the sequel gives more replayability. Sure, it would be fun to play through the story mode multiple times, searching for more treasures, trying to beat it on a higher difficulty setting, or simply going back through to enjoy the experience one more time. But single player is only fun for so long. The new online multiplayer mode offers a great time to provide entertainment for hours upon hours. The many different game modes, both competitive and cooperative keep things fresh.
All this amounts to Uncharted 2: Among Theives to be the greatest game I played in the final year of our current decade.
