GoW 1 Complete

Well I work this weekend (I get every other weekend off so that means next weekend I have off :P) so I won't go too far into details and most users here have probably beaten the game anyways, but tonight I finished off the first God of War game on the PS3 Collection disc. Needless to say I am very glad that I switched around the order of the games I have here at the house to start on the God of War series since I was initially saving it for last until talking with a fellow gamer at work and how highly he talked of GoW III just made me want to get started on the series right away in order to get to it much faster. So as soon as I finished getting 100% completion on Assassin's Creed II (Which is my favorite game on the PS3 so far) I put the PS3 Collection disc in and started getting acquainted with Kratos.

This game took a lot of getting used to for me since this is the first game I have ever personally played that had a fixed camera and couldn't be controlled with the right joystick. (Not counting older system games where camera angles weren't an option) The graphics are excellent and are as good as any older PS3 game I have played (a few parts were of lower quality though and you could tell it was redone graphically) and I fully appreciated the effort they must have put in to redo these graphics for the PS3 (since I had watched an old roommate play this game a few years ago but didn't play it personally so I know how it looked previously).

I was a bit skeptical going in because of the monsters, magic and things of that nature I normally don't get into, also being a casual gamer when I try these games it's just too much going on for me and I can get frustrated trying to find the exact mix of magic and force to use to get through the enemies. Shooters are my main games that I go for with some sports games thrown in here and there. I kept an open mind though and actually got the hang of the game pretty quickly although for most of the game I had issues trying to move the camera out of force of habit and rolling off a ledge or some other embarassing outcome while hunting around for things. I think it's easy to say that I died many more times from falling off things than I did in combat since I did really well in that portion of the game. (Although no where near ready for something like God Mode, that will be far into the future) Since I was playing on a lower level of difficulty it was very forgiving and after a few fights I realized that in a lot of fights it really didn't matter what magic I used or fighting method it wasn't too bad to get through except for a few parts where I had to use Magic to get rid of distant enemies in order to get across dangerous jumps/areas.

For the most part I am really glad I am giving this series a chance and the first game was definitely a lot longer than I expected a previous gen console game to be. I'm looking forward to getting started on God of War II tomorrow night and continuing this wonderful story of Kratos and his violent tendencies. Since I mainly play games to relax and enjoy the story of the game I was not disappointed with the first game and hope the next 2 games are just as well done since I loved the great cut scenes and amazing story this first game had to tell. For anyone who hasn't played this game I definitely recommend it, even if you aren't a hardcore gamer and just a casual gamer like myself without loads of gaming skill to spare just pop the disc in, put it on easy or normal and enjoy the game with only a few parts of the game that take a lot of effort. Since I found a few puzzles and later areas (Such as Hades) to be difficult, but not so bad that I was frustrated or discouraged. If you have any specific questions about the game and what I think of it (since I tend to ramble around a lot in blogs) feel free to ask away in the comments section provided below or via PM and I will get to them as soon as I can. Although with this being such an old game I'm definitely not expecting too much of that. :P

Have a great night everyone and thank you for taking the time to read this blog (Those of you that did :P) and getting up to date on some of the things going on in this boring, yet highly enjoyable (I'm easily amused) life of mine. Take care and talk to you soon hopefully. :)
