Let's Predict - Destiny 3

You finally did it. The Red Legion has been defeated, Dominous Ghaul is gone, and the Light has been returned. Now that Destiny 2 is completed what is next for our heroes? The next expansion has been leaked and shows that more adventure is ahead but what about the next full game? What's in store for the Traveler and the other servants of the Light? Destiny 3 won't be coming for a long time but that won't stop us from predicting the next game's events. Let's predict what will happen in Destiny 3.

New Alien Race

Before returning to the game one last cutscene was shown, derelict ships now activating and pointing towards the Traveler. According to images from Destiny's concept art, an alien race using similar triangle ships were never shown until now. While we have no idea who these creatures are we never encountered an enemy using that type of ship and that they became active after being exposed to the Traveler's Light. Which means that could be servants of The Darkness.

The Darkness Returns

Destiny 2's focus was what it meant to be chosen and the Light itself, leaving The Darkness behind. Well, that supernatural force is back and it seems it has new friends ready to fight. While a good counter-argument would be that these aliens want the Traveler for the same reasons The Red Legion was after it, the Light, remember that these aliens were dormant when we saw them. They only activated when exposed to the Traveler's Light, so they know what it is and now where it is. 

The True Speaker

One of the biggest revelations of Destiny 2 was the Speaker's purpose. Stating that he spoke for the Traveler but the Traveler did not speak to him. This means that the Speaker is just a scholar for the Traveler's lore and the religion that developed around it and that the Guardian you play as is the true Chosen One. Your Ghost wonders why out of all the Guardians that the Traveler chooses you to regain their Light and lead the charge against The Red Legion. It's clear that the Traveler sees your Guardian as someone special, a league above the others, and perhaps will speak to you directly in the next game about its purpose for saving humanity and its fight against The Darkness.
