Entering Little Nightmares III features eerie environments, such as Carnivale, Necropolis, and the Candy Factory, filled with Puzzles and Hazards. Whether solo or with a Partner, you must use both characters, relying on observation, patience, and coordination. Understanding each ability and its corresponding environmental interaction is crucial for progress and survival.

Character Abilities

In Little Nightmares III, you control two characters — Low and Alone — each with unique Skills for Puzzles. Low has a Bow for distant targets or mechanisms, but his attacks are weak. Alone uses a Wrench to break objects and clear obstacles, but can only strike objects close up. Solo play requires commanding the companion, which won't act unless instructed.

To manage your Weapon, note that drawing it limits mobility—you can't Sprint, Jump, or Grab objects while holding it. Keep it ready only when needed. To draw or sheathe your Weapon, press F (keyboard), B (Xbox), Circle (PlayStation), or A (Nintendo).

Keeping Your Weapon

Movement and agility are restricted with your Weapon out, especially when navigating rooms or solving Puzzles, which can hinder progress. It's better to store Low’s Bow or Alone’s Wrench until needed, maintaining flexibility for jumping, climbing, or interacting in Little Nightmares III.

Breakable Walls and Hidden Paths

It's normal to get stuck in a Puzzle or a room, but the best ways to get out of them usually involve paying close attention. Look for weak buildings, hidden entrances, or parts that can be moved.

For instance, a Wrench can be used to pull or tighten bricks that aren't level or not secure. With a Partner, wooden planks might be easy to remove. Also, look for small openings or hidden areas that you can climb. Test any feature that appears suitable for multiple users. It's essential to connect with everything in the world.

Puzzles and Obstacles

Use a systematic approach when stuck: look for buttons, levers, or ropes to activate hidden mechanisms, and move nearby objects, sometimes requiring both characters to lift them in Little Nightmares III.

Even if walls can't be destroyed, objects might be breakable or movable with Alone’s Wrench or Low’s arrows. Watch for items like light sources or switches, which often are interactive. Recheck the area or try a Jump or climb you thought impossible if all options seem exhausted.

Call Command in Solo Mode

In solo mode, if you're stuck or unsure of the next step, use the “call” function to direct your companion. Even if uncertain, calling can trigger an action to reveal the solution. Low or Alone may help automatically, but some Puzzles need direct input in Little Nightmares III.

For example, if a hidden button can only be hit with his Bow, calling him nearby might make him shoot it. To contact your companion, press Q, Triangle, Y, or X depending on your device.

Collectables and Items

As you go through the game, you'll find collectable Dolls that are tied to Achievements instead of progress. You can choose not to collect them, and doing so won't stop you from moving forward. There are Shoes, Toys, and broken parts in many of the rooms. You can ignore something unless it seems essential. Things that are needed for Puzzles or escapes will stand out from the rest.

Handling Boss Encounters

Boss interactions in Little Nightmares III emphasise Stealth over Combat. Instead of fighting, hide and avoid detection. Watch the boss’s pattern before leaving hiding spots. If they use a light to search, observe their illuminated area and wait for their patrol to end before moving.

In co-op, advance one character at a time to prevent collisions that alert the boss. Solo players will have the companion wait until the path is safe. Some bosses change movement when moving between hiding spots, so proceed carefully and avoid rushing.

Understanding each character’s ability, staying observant, and managing when to act or wait helps you navigate Little Nightmares III more effectively.
