Most Disappointing Games of 2016
What were the most disappointing games of 2016?

2016 has some incredible games but it also had its share of disappointing releases. Titles that were anticipated by a lot of gamers but failed to reach the heights of other more acclaimed titles. Here are our most disappointing games of 2016.
With Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune behind the project many hoped that Mighty No. 9 would become a massive success. After reaching its funding goal in two days the problems began to show. Multiple delays and an attempt to fun another spiritual successor, for Mega Man Legends called Red Ash: The Indelible Legend, crushed the community’s morale who supported the game. When the game finally released it was faced with harsh criticism with fans and critics noting the game’s design, content, voice acting, and many other aspects.
More of a television show than a video game Quantum Break attempted to do what Defiance did, but successfully. What we got was a mediocre shooting to an average television show. The voice-acting was excellent and the use of time manipulation powers was fun at first. However, eventually the linear level design coupled with poor enemy design hampered the entire experience. Remedy attempted to encourage replayability by offering branching choices but after the first playthrough, you’ll have to force yourself to do it all over again.
When it was first shown off at E3 2013 The Division had so much potential. After Destiny’s less disappointing release many hoped The Division would give players the open-world RPG shooter that was promised from that title. Instead, The Division was another mediocre shooter with minor RPG elements. Bullet spongelike enemies, a broken rogue system, and lack of end-game content caused a lot of the community to abandon the game. Ubisoft has improved the game with content updates and patches but the initial launch of The Division left a lot of gamers vexed.
Many Nintendo fans, including myself, were yearning for a brand new Star Fox game that recaptured the glory of Star Fox 64, instead, we got Star Fox Zero. A reboot of Star Fox 64 Star Fox Zero’s biggest issue came in the way of its controls. Using gyroscopic aiming made the game a frustrating beyond words, which is a shame because the game had a lot of potential. What was more bewildering if why Nintendo decided to reboot the story instead of moving forward? It’s a shame that Fox McCloud’s triumphant return was in Star Fox Zero.
Unless you’ve been on a media cleanse for the past year you had to hear about No Man’s Sky difficult launch. The game simply did not live up to the acclaim that was promise. It got worst when Sony criticized Hello Games marketing for No Man’s Sky and that Sean Murray Tweeted that the game was a “mistake”. When compared to the E3 2015 demo and final product it’s reasonable to see why so many gamers were annoyed, especially when coupled with all the promises that failed to make it into the game, lack of communication from the developer, and a triple-a price.
