You need more than a gun to make it through the streets. Success comes down to how well you look around and how you use your tools. Keep your eyes open and stay sharp. Follow these steps to keep your investigation on track.

Saving Your Work

The game has an autosave, but you should use manual save spots too. Find Typewriters to save your game, especially before you try to Tailpick a safe or enter a big fight.

If you fail to open a safe or get knocked out, just reload your save. This keeps you from losing Cash or important items.

Fighting and Gear

The Micer gun is your go-to for hitting targets from a distance when you start out. You will get more tools later, but use this one for now. Listen for a boxing bell. It tells you when a fight starts and when everyone is defeated. Watch your ammo count since it is hard to find.

Use your Kick often. It stuns enemies and gives you room to breathe. You can also use it to smash windows or light-colored Boxes. These crates sometimes have bullets or Heal-D bottles inside.

Finding Secrets

Check every corner of a level before moving forward. Doing this helps you find Money, Schematics, and Collectibles. Use the Compass at the top of your screen to see where items or enemies are located.

If you don’t know where to go, look for white marks on the edges of boards. These show you where to jump. Do not let "No Entry" signs stop you, as those doors often lead to the right path. Unmarked doors can also hide secret rooms.

Managing Items

You will find ammo scattered through every level. The type of ammo you find usually tells you which weapon works best for that case.

If you play on Normal, do not waste Money buying bullets at the shop. Use Explosive Barrels or drop Pianos and Anvils on heads to save your shots in MOUSE: P.I. For Hire.

Mini-Games and Options

Collect plenty of cards before you walk into a bar to play the Baseball Card Game. You start with low numbers, so buy some cards first to get better skills. If you need to change how the game feels, go to the menu. You can adjust Difficulty, Aim Assist, and Aim Acceleration at any time.
