OneBigGame
Games by Nerdboy on Nov 10, 2009
So, I was sitting around waiting for a download of a certain beta (more on that later this week) to finish and watching some game trailers when I came across a trailer for a game called Chime that will be releasing on PC and XBLA in "Winter 09". Chime, which you can view a trailer for here, looks to be some kind of music/puzzle game and looks like it could be a lot of fun. However it was then that I found how Chime will be released.
Chime will be released as part of "OneBigGame" a new non-profit organization that aims to donate all funds, minus whatever it costs to host the website, to foundations such as Save the children and Starlight's Children Foundation. Chime will be the first game released on this website and I hope, as someone who really likes the idea, that this catches on.
My job is working with kids. Anywhere from the age of 5 to 12. The kids that come to the program all live in an area that is severly in need of attention. They sometimes don't have clothes to wear every day and often times may have to move several times a year. Living conditions are horrible and so when I see something like this, people clearly doing what they can to make a difference in a child's life, it really gives me hope. Something I've seen more than I've wanted to is the terrible living conditions of some of the kids in today's world.
I just wanted to post this in hopes of bringing more attention to not just OneBigGame but all types of organizations like this. I'll be getting Chime and possibly more games released through this website 1.) because Chime does look like a great game and 2.) because I'd love to know that there's a kid out there that'll benefit from this.
As someone who would really like to eventually develop games one day...I'd be all for releasing a game through OneBigGame. So yeah, that's my public service announcement for the day. Check it out, share your thoughts, I've got some more previews and impressions and reviews and such coming somewhat soon. :)
