Path of Exile 2 Guide | How To Level Up Fast
Struggling in leveling up? Here’s what you need to master the basics of progression.

First things first, in order to level up fast in Path of Exile 2, one needs to master the basics that save time and boost efficiency. I have had enough time in this game to develop some approaches and methods that really work for the majority of players, and I want to share them. It's not some sort of one-hour speedrun miracle; it's more like an approach for a casual player willing to level up faster without making the game too grindy.
Choosing the Right Build
First and foremost, you've got to plan your build. Without anything at the base, it's all going to collapse. Usually, you're going to want something that does a lot of damage per second because it's just going to make things easier and quicker all around. If you don't know what works, I recommend just going through the community resources and build guides [See all the build guides link below]. There is no shame involved in 'stealing' ideas from someone else if it improves your leveling experience. DPS is essential; without it, you'd still be hitting the walls, and that's frustrating and so very time-consuming.
Stick to the Story
You can't avoid going through the major storyline. It's the backbone of the game, and you really need to pay lots of attention to it. In any case, you might reach a point where you're stuck hard with your character and are not able to defeat some boss or whatever. Don't bang your head against the wall. If stuck in a fight, for example, in Ogham Manor, there are no big plot spoilers here; just stop and level up.
Go back, reload the previous area, and grind for 30 minutes. Even a couple of levels will make a huge difference; the boss will attack softer and you'll hit harder. Seriously, it's way better than sitting around frustrated for hours.
Be Smart About Gear
Another critical point is the effective loot and bettering of the equipment. And here is my rule: do not bother with white (normal) stuff unless you are just starting to play. Blue (magical) equipment is OK in the early stages, but once you find yellow (rare), focus your attention on it. If you are at level 40 and still use a level 10 weapon, even the lousiest blue replacement you find will give a quantum leap.
Don't overthink the equipment too much. Stick with the ones that have obvious bonuses, and don't nitpick at tiny stat differences.
Efficient Farming
Probably the best way to level up is farming spots that are 5-10 levels below your character. You will find a few such places with nearby waypoints in Act 1 and Act 2 that are simply perfect for this. A good farm would include a boss or a part with a lot of loot near the entrance for easy resetting.
Once a room has been cleared, hit the input button and hold it to create a new version of it; this way, you'll be able to kill all the enemies in one or two shots and grab everything from the loot and experience points. This works very well early in the game because each upgrade counts.
Gear Optimization through Drops and Vendors
Farm the blues and yellows. When the run is done, go back to town and identify the stuff you've found, vend what you don't need. Take said currency and use it to craft or buy random weapons from vendors. You really never know-you might just get that one yellow, which is way better than your best find so far.
Set up the Next Push
Every time you farm and upgrade your gear, you're basically taking a break to recharge for the following level. Equipped with better gear and a few extra levels, you will actually blow through content 30-40% quicker than before. Actually, that is a brilliant strategy early in the game because upgrades tend to give enormous power boosts across the board.
Use Rarity Gear to Increase Drop Chances
Save anything that gives you a gain in loot rarity or additional loot drops for your farming runs. Have them equipped when you grind for better odds at finding nicer things. Just be careful not to die because of it; there is just no point in that for marginal rewards to nice stuff.
Time Management
Efficiency is about managing your own time. If you are not hunting for super-specific rewards, then don't spend hours micro-managing your stuff or checking every inch of an area. Keep moving, kill monsters fast, and always update your equipment.
Final Thoughts
Cadence is everything in leveling in Path of Exile 2. Find yourself a solid build and learn to farm effectively, then upgrade your gear, but not by sweating the little stuff since this is all about making things easier, not exhausting. These will help you level up faster, die less, and, in the process, make it way more enjoyable.
