PAX South, a wonderful convention teeming with fans from all around the world all in one place. Surprise Attack Games came to PAX South with a full arsenal of their incredible games and fancy swag. I had the chance to not only play each of their wonderful games but talk to various people from Surprise Attack about their games.
Super Mutant Alien Assault blew my mind. Offering a diverse array of weapons and enemies to face this insane title has players taking control of a small robot attempting to fend off hostile aliens from killing the humans onboard the ship. Same crazy, because it is, but if you feel overwhelmed you can call a friend over to assist.
Each chapter consist of three chapters, each finishing with a final boss. Enemies are randomly generated but come out in waves so the prepare can allocate their firepower to certain sections of the map. Speaking of map the entire part of each level takes place in one single map, with objectives popping up occasionally to keep things dynamic.
The time I spend with Super Mutant Alien Assault had me on the edge of my seat. I continuously died, showing that you can’t just randomly kill targets and how to succeed. Careful planning of where you are in the map, location of weapons and using the environment to your advantage is key to success.
Super Mutant Alien Assault is now available on early access on Steam and will release on Steam and console in Q1 2016.
