Games hardly innovate within the platform genre, especially when limited to two dimensions - or 2.5D, they are also known as 3D graphics with 2D drawings. But some titles we really amazing, as is the case of LittleBigPlanet that with its simplicity, conquered the world. Another great example, this time in the downloadable games sector, is Trine. The first game was experienced by PC and PlayStation users, that brought a mixture of strategy and platforming. In addition, several innovative elements, as well as puzzles and challenges, ensured the success of the game.

Trine gained a sequel. Frozenbyte, developer of the title, showed that Trine 2 is already being prepared. During the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2010, some  were lucky enough to view a brief demo of the game. The promise for the successor is more innovations and online cooperative mode. Trine is a side-scroller that features a fantasy adventure full of puzzles involving the physics of the game. Another striking factor is the ability to switch between characters in real time, something very necessary for the progression of the journey. They are the Wizard, the Thief and the Knight. Each of the three has specific skills, forcing the player to observe and calculate their actions.

The second title should bring a similar proposal, with the same basic structure that sustained the first game, but with some enhanced functions. Besides the upgrade in the graphics - the game is really beautiful - and online cooperative mode, the characters also gained some new powers. Now, the Wizard can grab and manipulate enemies, as if using the famous force of the Jedi. But the thief can slow down time and should also receive other skills, though nothing has yet been confirmed. Frozenbyte promises to create levels that require the player to skillfully use each of these new skills, increasing the importance of each class within the game.

Trine 2 arrives in 2011, probably in July. This time, the game also lands on the Xbox 360 as well as on the PC and PlayStation 3 through their respective digital channels. The price has not been decided, but Atlus, the distribuitor commented that we have a much more reasonable than the first game - which used to cost $ 40.
