Red Dead Redemption Day #2
Games by David_D on May 28, 2010
I didn't do all that much with the game today as far as story missions go but I did get a good 5 hours in or so. It's amazing how fast the time goes by when playing this game. I did a good amount of side missions, more specifically "Strangers" and enjoyed them a lot. I only did 2 Story Missions the whole time since what I'm doing right now is kind of like "grinding" with RPG's where I'm trying to just earn some money before getting too heavy into the Story Missions that way as soon as better weapons become available I can buy them, which I've already done with a few of them.
Now just because I didn't play many story missions doesn't mean I didn't see a lot of action. I assure you I killed many people in my travels today, mainly with random encounters helping people who are the guest at a Lynching Party or saving them from outlaws or even cannibals... it's amazing what some people will eat when out in the wild. I've earned around $1,000 so far and have a lot more money to get once I sell off the skins, meat, antlers and other assorted body parts I have from my kills, which also count towards certain in game challenges that you can meet for rewards by checking your journal, which also can tie in with unlocking certain outfits in the game as well. I also ran into a deserted town named Tumbleweed that was filled with outlaws who had the Sheriff tied up. So after killing my way to the Sheriff, cutting him loose and then wiping out the gang I got a nice reward, picked up some ammunition, looted some dead bodies, did some exploring of the now deserted again town and then went on my merry way.
I also lost my first tamed wild horse during a wanted poster mission, after killing the wanted man and on my way back to the Sheriff to claim my reward some more members of the gang attacked me while by a cliff and knocked him over the side and he died. :( After shedding a few unwitnessed tears and having a smoke while saying some kind words about my lost horse Dusty I stole one of the dead outlaws horses to continue my way back to the Sheriff. After claiming my reward I found a bunch of wild horses that had a beautiful dark solid brown Stallion in it. Not wanting to continue riding the scumbags horse that killed my beloved Dusty and being reminded of it I snuck up on the brown beauty, lasso'd him, and then broke him and he's been a great horse ever since. I named him Leather, since he's the same shade as the dark brown leather of my gunbelt and it just seemed to fit him so nicely. I hope to keep him for a long time and I traveled many miles with him so far. He will never replace Dusty, but he's become important to me just the same.
Tomorrow will bring a whole new set of adventures for Mr. Marston and Leather and I can't wait to see what they are. So far he's been a good, decent man. Gaining Fame and Honor by doing his best to kill the bad and spare the innocent during his travels, and even play Hero now and then to some good looking damsel in distress. He's yet to even have a gunfight so far, but being back in the untamed West it's just a matter of time before someone tests his skills and takes a long dirt nap because of it. I can't wait to witness such an event, even if it does bring out all the two-bit tinhorns in the area looking for a reputation by reliving some of the glory days of the west by testing the speed of their draw against Marston. Remember to collect the ammo and money from those dead Dandies John... you'll never know when it will come in handy down the trail.
