Red Faction: Armageddon

Red Faction: Guerrilla was exactly what the players wanted: lots of destruction. Volition's title allowed you to go out and exploding metal twisting in the Martian terrain in the midst of a proletarian revolution. Guerrilla was nothing subtle about its purpose, and perhaps for that reason has been so successful. However, we can not deny the flaws present in the structure of the game. Devastating the surface of Mars was without doubt, the highlight of the game, but the levels with vehicles and the struggles against large armies actually had some problems clashed considerably the overall pace of the title.
Now in Armageddon, the Volition team watched the elements that worked and what could be repaired or removed from the successful structure of Red Faction. Named Red Faction: Armageddon, promises to be even better than Guerrilla, focused on action and interesting landscape changes.
The revolution has began, but the miners on Mars have not yet won their freedom. The struggle that began in the colonies reached the ground surface and now the threat is another. Many years have passed since the events of Red Faction: Guerrilla and Alec Mason is no longer on the front lines. This time you assume the role of Darius Mason, Alec's grandson - the protagonist of Red Faction: Guerrilla. Apparently an alien infestation began after an excavation in the interior of Mars and spreading across the red planet. Despite all believe that Darius is responsible for the beginning of the infestation, it's up to you to save the world. To this end, the boy has the same heavy equipment arsenal, but even more destructive.
The game gets some changes, but the dynamics follow with slightly changes. The movement is basically the same, you can still run short distances and carry up to four weapons. The elements used in Red Faction are all present, in other words what is important here is to destroy all the scenario. However, unlike its predecessor, the goal is not to create a massive open world game.
In Armageddon, action and narrative itself are much more direct, close to the player. Nothing to worry about hitting headshots, the important thing is to get a plasma to cut titanium beams knocking down the fuel barrels shaking up the structure of gigantic buildings. So, instead of running with explosives in your hand, you can just shoot with your launcher and remotely detonate the package. Landmines still have a limited operating range, while the guns create a real black hole, sucking and blasting everything around.
The rocket launcher is also back and can (will!) cause considerable destruction, but nothing compared to the Nano Rifle. The rifle made an appearance in Guerrilla, but this time is faster. For those who do not know what it is, imagine an assault rifle capable of disintegrating the target. You can still count with the Magnet Gun. Actually the gun does not cause direct damage, but shoot two magnets that are activated when they are attracted to one another, taking down anything near.
The arsenal is impressive, as well the enemies. The aliens are hideous and menacing. The structure of the game seems much more linear, the question is whether this will be good or bad. Red Faction: Armageddon still has no release date confirmed but is expected in May 2011.
