Released for the Super Nintendo in 1994, Super Metroid revolutionize the series started in the NES. The third chapter in the series (successor to Metroid II - Return of Samus, released for Game Boy) had great graphics, a very fluid gameplay and, especially, brought great innovation as a huge world to be explored in its smallest detail. All these qualities made resulted in millions of cartridges sales, appearances in various lists of best games of all time and, most importantly, the consolidation of the series (and its main character) in the pantheon of "the Golden Triad" of Nintendo, also composed by Mario and Link.

History

Super Metroid share exactly the end of the second game of the series, when the rewards of huntress Samus Aran finally managed to eradicate all Metroids, as well as their leader, Mother Brain. Meanwhile, she is followed by a small Metroid larva that believes that the huntress is your mother. So she decides to take it to the scientists of the Space Station of Ceres, where they discover that the powers contained in that larva can bring many benefits to humanity.

Cinematografic momments

When you start the game, we have one of the most cinematic moments in the history of videogames. Samus counting all the events that have passed the previous game, interspersed with scenes. Until the moment when she says that the station suffered an attack. Here, the soundtrack ended and we are transported to the base attacked, when we began to control it. When the player gets closer it appears Ridley, out of the shadows, ready to steal it. After a tough battle, Ridley flees, taking with him the larva. Surely, comes the information that the Space Station will explode in a minute, and it starts to be a desperate escape from Samus to the main elevator. Arriving in the elevator, there is the scene of the spaceship right now away in the explosion of the station. A cliche, yes, but one of the draw breath. After this event, we are brought up to the planet Zebes, where the adventure begins. That's for sure, one of the most cinematic moments in the history of the games (even before Metal Gear Solid appear), comparable to the best sci-fi movie. Watching this scene, I think how wonderful it would be a movie based on the Metroid universe. On second thought, better stop thinking about it. Will Uwe Boll read this text and solves to make another movie?

Sound and Graphics

The graphics at first may seem simple, but is perfectly suited to the climate of sci-fi game, with a direction of fabulous art, to say the least. Dark corridors, enemies of the most varied shapes and sizes (from tiny to those that cover the entire screen), tight corridors, it helps to make the player feel in a movie of sci-fi. Highlight for heads of stage, by their ingenuity and variety, besides the fact that several of them are giants. The soundtrack is just perfect, giving the gloomy atmosphere that the game needs. From the c.lassic opening theme, through the initial theme of the game (when you enter the Space Station), the theme of battle of the heads (simply the best theme already set up for this time of the game) until the issue of the head end, it is to be at least surprised to see how Nintendo is ace to make the players feel fully entered the game as if they were their own character.

Gameplay

The controls are very precise and intuitive,in addition to the basic commands (jump, shot, and moving the directional character), Samus has a series of power-ups that are collected during the game, which increased its armor, as well as increasing the power of his weapon. Multiple skills as jumping, extreme speed, a jump of several meters high, and shot full of electricity or ice and armor that support temparturas extremely high and acid, it is won by the player as it progresses into the adventure, and it contributes to Always keep the experience new and interesting.

Super Metroid is one of the synonyms of the word perfect to me. Many of you might not agree with this statement, but there is no denying that this is a great game, whose design and s.tyle action / exploration inspired the series (and other games too) today. Thanks to him, the names and Metroid Samus Aran will be forever recorded in the world of games, raising millions of fans worldwide.

Stay tuned for the next retroactivity!
