Rock Band 3

Rhythmic games burst some time ago with the arrival of Rock Band and Guitar Hero. The reproduction of famous musics played on plastic instruments  that emulated the reality satisfied a legion of musicians wannabe who never learned to play a real instrument. While some were amused, others protested: Why play with a fake guitar if you can play with a real guitar? Well that was the idea behind the new step sponsored by Harmonix. After presenting the Guitar Hero franchise and have introduced the Drums plus a microphone with Rock Band online, developers decided to bet on a concept that breaks the barrier between game and reality. Rock Band 3 is intended to teach music with real instruments and to enjoy a good gameplay that is familiar for the fans of the genre. The new edition of the famous series of rhythmic titles introduces a new instrument - a keyboard with two octaves - and a new game mode that promises to revolutionize the music genre.

If you've ever fumbled with just five buttons, try 102! The Fender Mustang PRO - peripheral developed by MadCatz - brings all this and more. The developers of the Rock Band series have concluded that players do not want to stay only in make-believe and decided to teach potential musicians playing real instruments. For this, they developed new peripherals - including a real guitar, Fender Squier Stratocaster - and a game mode that reproduces the actual notes and chords of the songs in the game. When you venture into PRO mode - fully equipped with a PRO instrument: Fender Squier Stratocaster, Mustang PRO, keyboard or with the appropriate additional battery - the traditional rain of colored buttons might be a serious issue even for the most expert ones.

The mechanics are basically the same, but the buttons are transformed in real notes. Instead of receiving the instruction to press the green button, you'll see a symbol of a note that needs to be fingered with the guitar, with numbers indicating the right place that should be played. The chords are represented on the side, but the symbols are only recognized by those who know something of music. However, Rock Band 3 will feature an extensive tutorial that will teach the chords basics and the correct way to hold the guitar. The great advantage of the PRO mode is that the notes on the screen are actually the notes of the song in question, so if you master "Caught in a Mosh"  by Anthrax, you can “challenge” a guitarist of a covers band, especially if using a Fender Squier Stratocaster, which can be used as a real guitar with an amplifier.

Remember, the PRO mode not only includes the guitar. In fact, Rock Band 3 can be played in two distinct ways, one traditional as if you were new to the series, and the other, more refined, as if you were familiar with those instruments. If you prefer the good old structure of five buttons, simply choose the default mode. However, if you want a truly and complete challenging gaming experience, the PRO mode is the right choice. On drums, you should call the additional dishes while you go on the keyboard to use the full two eighths instead of just five keys. Also, the best of all is that the selection - with 83 tracks - explores all the instruments very well, especially tracks such as Elton John, Warren Zevon and the epic "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen.

Rock Band 3 is the innovation needed to revive a dead king by the excess of similar titles. A relentless series of games from the Guitar Hero franchise has saturated the players who see the release of the franchise as simple music packages. Harmonix reinvents the genre - just as they did when the first Rock Band was released - and injects new life in rhythmic games.Rock Band 3 is scheduled for release on October 26, for the Xbox 360, PS3, Wii and DS.
