Sciency --Slight Star Ocean Spoilers

I picked up playing Star Ocean 1 & 2 recently (again) as it so happens, doing so made me remember about the whole Star Ocean universe and how real it seems to me that humanity will be just like the humans in star ocean in the future. Allow me to indulge here, Star Ocean Universe follows through on early human history and in one way or another it made it completely canon in the games. To the point where you do visit Rosswell Earth during SO4 as well as mentions of other things (the many wars). During the Events of SO1 you get to meet as well explore the existence of the fabled Muah, who according to Earthling legends, existed on our earth at the dawn of human history and mysteriously vanished continent and all one day. The continent of Mu as the game says, was struck by a meteor and subsequently a wormhole was created which transported many of the inhabitants accross the Ocean of Stars where they developed differently at each location and each one tried to get back to earth...failing miserably. I digress however.

According to the series itself, after the third world war, our planet will be damaged beyond our ability (at that time) to repair it. That crisis, pulled the world together under different governments working under one goal: Space Exploration with the prospect of leaving earth and finding another planet. During this time, earth leaders come into contact with aliens (keeping it a secret from the public) and those aliens (lucky for them that they were the good ones) aided the human race by advancing their space travel capabilities, in return humans aided them in other areas which i do forget what they were. In the end of all this suffering, the human race then becomes a federation and tries to "recruit" other planets and people into it as a form of alliance.

In Short, the way things are going now in the world, the many similarities, the recent string of "alien" activity, the complex ring of secrecy all over the world, the strifes we have as a species, heck the whole world as it is seem like it might be going the way Star Ocean is going. Technology and all! Technology is advancing at a terrible terrible rate. So much to the point that the public itself isnt even aware of all the things that are available to them. So when i hear in the news about a space station this and a space probe that, i stop and think "They tell us we have a space station already, i will not begin to imagine what they DONT tell us..." I already know they lie about the costs of maintaining a space program and also about the costs of sending a shuttle into space. so whats there not to lie about? then again, your average person usually doesnt know anything beyond their own home so its pretty easy to conceal things from the general public. Technology is an awesome thing, but the wrong advancements have brought us morally horrible things. Notice how i say morally and not evil bad things.

All things considered any type of advancement is good. Bad advancement is technically a no progress scenario. All the different viruses that have been created by our megalomaniac/egotistical species, the weapons, the Fission & Fusion Bombs all those advancements, although not morally good or correct, have actually advanced our species into the next level of technological evolution. Take those bombs for example. Sure they destroy, kill and what not. but what if they werent used for those purposes. What if they were used for what they were originally made for? a Clean renuable energy source. Those viruses? how about a nice clean study and combine them with genetic engineering to help elongate human life and the human states? ofcourse, there is always the calm before the storm, and after the storm there is enlightenment. After humanity gets sick of their destructive toys...they will use them as investment. Just like a 70 year old guy sells his comic book collection for a few hundred thousand dollars.

And that, my friends, is how i overcome a writers block. Dramus - 1 ____Writers Block - 0
