July 25th 2010 Barcalys New York Challenge

1pm Sporting vs Tottenham

3:30pm Redbulls vs Man. City

*the events about to be listed are all a part of the best Game of my life.*

8:45am. Wake up and struggle out of bed. Looking to my left i noticed my loved Sporting flag all folded up and neat. Ready for its glorious day.

9:30am donning my epic Sporting flag as a cape, my hold beat up Sporting hat, and my jersey uniform. I walked out in to the car with my father and readied of the journey.

10:45am Parking lot, looking around all i see are Red bull supporters... I'm sticking out like a sore thumb... Not cool

12:15pm I walk over to the Arena after having lunch and at first i was worried. All Red bulls. I walk past all the stands, no one seems to notice me. From the corner of my eye i see a flash of green. in an instant i take off with my father and i find them... over 300 Sporting Supports all partying outside of the second gate. I've found them!

12:55pm I'm in my seats. PRETTY AWESOME SEATS. I'm lest then 20 feet from the field and i'm watching the groundskeepers clean up.

12:58pm Sporting walks on to the field and starts doing some drills to warm up... I cried a little....

1:00pm Whistle sounds... game starts...

Goals: Robbie Keane (24 m), Obika (70 m); Matias Fernandez (25 m) and Valdes (48 m).

It was a rather slow start, both teams gauging the other. some bold attacks and interest movement but nothing crazy. But then it gets interesting.

7th minute Sporting goes raging and powers through the Spur's Defenders. Liedson give a powerful kick which bounces off the post and back at him. He passes it to Matias who takes a clean shot right center of the net. The Goalie punches the ball back but Valdes comes in and fires it back, but a Spur defender manages to get in the goal and bomb it back down the field. NEVER have i be so pumped and crazy as i was that moment...

24th minute Spurs score a rather basic goal... I was sad T_T

1-0 Spurs

25th minute Valdes rushes the out right side and crosses the ball dead center but too low for anyone to do anything.. WRONG Matias comes in with a diving header that sends the ball arching over the Goalie and equalizing the match.

1-1

There was a back and forth none stop struggle with both teams giving hell. But nothing as extreme as earlier. Half time 1-1. i got a Soda and realized it was about 96 F on in the field... O.o Poor players

48th minute

Valdes tries something rather ballsie and fires from about 45m from the net. It soars and the goalie jumps only to watch as the ball slips in to the net at the Top left corner

2-1 Sporting

70th minute Spurs come in with a surprising goal to equalize the game once again. Oh god i think i may have had a mini heart attack...

80th minute - 90th minute... Now i'm scared. The Spurs just went intense on the offense and fired at least 9 shots at Sportings goalie. I was in fear that my flag was wrapped around me as i roared with my Fellow Lions as each and every shot was blocked. The first 5 to 6 minutes of the final 10 were mostly the Spurs just bashing on us... But we heated things up and with a unified Roar we barreled down the field and gave them even more heat than before. Without Liedson playing i didn't expect it to be that lethal. But it was. just shot after shot on the Spur's goalie. If they had not subbed the defenders we would have taken the Win.

Final 2-2

Challenge stats

Now i would sit here and tell you about the Red bulls vs Man. City game.. but it wasn't all that great. I mean it was a heavy start but after the first ten minutes i started to yawn. It only picked up at the last 80 minutes so meh Americans did ok. Score 2 - 1 Red Bulls

Things i learned after my first Live Game (of course it's Sporting :D)

1. Newark, New Jersey is very scary to walk around... very... scary.....

2. The arena wasn't that bad... a 20oz soda i expected it to be about 8 dollars since everyone said the place rips you off... it was only 4... Decent considering the place.

3. It kinda sucks that you can't keep the soccer ball when it's fired in tot he Stands T_T I caught it i wanted to keep it... i punted it back in. I made Sporting players smile :D

4. Americans can't Chant without cursing.... Sporting fans we Sang out song and Chanted FORCA SPORTING FORCA. Spurs made a cool beat and Man. City ( the like 40 that were there) made some cheers... But the Americans.. I'm disgusted. Every time the Man. City Goalie would do a Goalie kick... that would stomp the ground until he kicked. Once he kicked and they all shouted and i quote " YOU SUCK A**HOLE" When Man. City was close to scoring they would chant "MAN CITY F**K OFF". They just bashed the other team T_T The only positive thing they ever said was... Go Red bulls Go... yea real original -_-

5. I hate American rules... They make the sport confusing...

That was the game. I enjoyed it so much that i'll be going to more in the future. SPORTING!

Quem ganhou? Quem ganhou? Quem ganhou? SPORTING Quem ganhou?Quem ganhou? Quem ganhou? Sempre SPORTING!

Yes Sporting won the Challenge cup. It was taken to time between goals. Who scored earliest. Yes the Spurs scored first. but the time gap between the goals was small so after adding the gap between the next two goals. Sporting was winning longest so they win it all ( I don't understand American Soccer rules...)
