Steam Machine Price Leak Reveals Possible $1,100 Premium Bundle

In the past couple of weeks, there have been several leaks of the Steam Machine popping up every other day or so. We have made additional discoveries about stock shipments, possibly prices, reservation systems, and anti-scalping policies in Valve's backend systems. Right now, it doesn't seem realistic for the base Steam Machine model to cost more than a few thousand dollars. The higher-value bundle can do that if it adds extras, including the controller and Steam Frame. According to rapid currency conversion estimates, a thousand euros would be equivalent to $1,100 in the United States, which is already a high price tag for a gaming system.

At this moment, it's most probable that there will be at least one SKU that could start at around 4 figures. The 512GB base version is likely to be the more expensive of the two, but it does give us the best real numbers for the Steam Machine lineup.

Multiple Products Together in a Single Valve

All the clues point to a multi-SKU approach that brings together different hardware products apparently being developed by Valve. One option would be to bundle the controller and the Steam Frame with the Steam Machine. The final Steam Frame price may easily surpass $1,000, depending on the price.

The cost of the Steam Frame may range from $250 to $500. The idea behind the hardware is intriguing, but not everyone is interested in VR features. Still, it might be one of the main ways Valve will combat scalpers at launch.

However, if you're only interested in the Steam machine itself, you might still be forced to buy a bundle because that's all that's available.
