The First Descendant Guide | Best Freyna Build
Here's a guide on the best Freyna Build in The First Descendant.
Game Guide by Ragib Rawnak on Aug 08, 2025
Freyna is one of the most useful descendants in The First Descendant. Her toxic abilities inflict significant damage.
This guide covers new sets of parts, Arche Tuning settings, weapon choices, and builds that are special to the content to help her do her best, and also help you get the most out of Freyna in everyday tasks, boss fights, and Void Erosion Purge.

New Components (Plague Set)
The Plague Set should be your central Freya part. This set does the most damage and lasts the longest by giving every top spot the most HP.
With this four-piece upgrade, her toolkit's most toxic set now has 43% more toxic skill power.
The Plague Set's tech skill power boosts go well with Freyna's skills. Since you won't be using gun damage, the set doesn't change how well you do because it lowers the critical hit rate and damage.
This penalty doesn't help because your Malevolent weapon doesn't need critical hits.
To build Freyna, you need to know about damage buckets. The First Descendant has several damage factors that add to the skill power of both toxic and non-toxic skills.
Components and toxic Amplification will give you a lot of toxic skill power, so pay attention. Power surpasses Focus on Toxic or Toxic Power in terms of damage across multiple buckets.
Normal Mobbing Build
When mobbing, your standard setup should prioritize damage and life. Power Increase changes the non-specific skill power bucket, which makes damage better when used with dangerous skill power sources.
Toxic Amplification will enhance your toxic skill. Together with Plague Set and Arche Tuning, this mod does a lot more damage. Tech Amplification is another damage booster that every build needs.
Use defensive changes that work with your play style to stay alive by adding defensive boosts to base defense improvements, Spear and Shield and Iron Defense to lower damage without lowering the ability to attack in The First Descendant.
New Arche Tuning
It's better to change the critical hit on your Arche Tuning board than to change the skill's strength, range, or delay. To do the most damage, put Toxic Cohesion in the mutant cell spot.
Toxic Cohesion is the mutant cell choice that does the most damage. This skill does 2% more damage than non-specific skill power mutant cells, even though it adds to the damage that is already being done.
If you still have points left over, spend them on skill power nodes, skill range expansions, or downtime reductions that fit the way you play in The First Descendant.
With this design, you can change the board to fit different types of content while keeping Toxic Cohesion as the central mutant cell.

Void Erosion & Mobbing Build
If the range is enough, take away Amplification Control from your normal mobbing build to get Void Erosion Purge content.
Most fights with Void Erosion Purge happen in small spaces where Freyna's damage-over-time effects can spread without a range.
Spear and Shield should be used instead of Amplification Control to improve defense and skills.
You can add your base defense numbers to the defensive bonuses from your second ability with Toxic Stimulation.
This mix creates a defensive multiplier that makes it easier to stay alive in The First Descendant.
In group content, Toxic Stimulation's armor and defense boosts help everyone on the team.
Any member of your team who takes damage can use poison damage over time on enemies to make the dot application and clear efficiency better.
Try Venom Injection, a transcendent tool that you should be careful with. This mod takes away HP every second and water when your health drops.
It does more damage and lowers toxic resistance, but the cost of life often makes clear times shorter than with Toxic Stimulation.
When using Venom Injection to deal quick damage to elite enemies or for short-term damage spikes, be careful. To lower your chances of survival, use it wisely instead of having it on during fights.
Maximize Damage against Bosses
Freyna's fourth ability, which kills targets in one hit, is used in your highest damage boss build. Damage done is more important than how well you fight in this setting in The First Descendant.
Venom Injection can cause significant damage and eliminate toxic resistance. Single-phase fights where all you have to do is stay alive to change and save your HP.
You can add Skill Extension to give yourself time to empty your gun before your fourth ability activates. With boss damage increases, Dangerous Ambush does more damage to a single target.
The Overwhelming Shield shields you from boss strikes. For single-phase fights, you don't have to worry about lowering cooldowns or managing power, so you can make defensive choices without giving up damage.
To rotate, you have to use your second and fourth skills while holding down the attack key. The routine should beat most bosses, but Ice Maiden needs some adjustments to work better.
Change "Tech Specialist" to "Maximize Skill and Power." Increase with Maximize Power to do the most damage possible, but this requires investing in catalysts and isn't necessary for the current level of challenge in The First Descendant.

Group Bossing
Keep the core damage bonuses and Venom Injection while using MP Conversion and Nimble Fingers to lower the cooldown.
The fourth skill can now be used more than once in a fight without losing any damage.
Keep Overwhelming Shield to stay alive, and add other defenses based on the boss. The investment in shortening cooldowns makes abilities more useful by increasing their damage uptime and usefulness in long battles.
This build strikes a good balance between maximizing damage in and adhering to the rules against deaths in group content in The First Descendant.
Weapon Selection
Secret Garden and Malevolent should be your primary weapons, and each should play a different part in your loadout.
Freyna's stats go up when she stands in the Secret Garden instead of getting hurt.
Sharp Precision Shot, Support Ammo, Weapon Charge, and Fire Rate can all be used to improve your Secret Garden.
The changes make your fourth skill less useful. Pay attention to these four essential weapon mods; the others won't change your abilities.
You can enhance your Secret Garden by incorporating Sprint Speed cores and increasing the recharge time of your Grappling Hook.
A single change to the grappling hook gives Freyna constant airtime, which makes it easier to move around during fights.
Malevolent, your straight damage weapon, can help you with Void Erosion. Increase its ammo size, chill damage, and rifle damage. Adjust the chill gun and fire attack to improve their effectiveness in specific situations.
Reactor Selection
Pick a reactor that works with the guns and items you have. The Tactical Rifle and Hand Cannon accessories for Malevolent and Secret Garden should be used consistently in The First Descendant.
You should mostly use Toxic and Tech Skill Power Boosts to improve your reactor. The most damage can be done with these choices without needing range or cooldown damage.
For fights against Colossus, switch to a generator that has Extra Skill Attack and Tech Skill Power Boost. This setup does the most damage to high-value targets.
Boss Arche Tuning
Keep your Toxic Cohesion set up for regular fights, and add Damage to Colossus nodes to your Arche Tuning board for boss fights. During boss fights, Shield Enhanced Arcade can be used instead of Toxic Cohesion in mutant cells.
This game mode increases your shield's strength by 9.5% when it's full. Your bossing builds already scale shields to help you stay alive, so this mutant cell adds to your defenses.
For defense, neutralization might work against enemies that are resistant to poison, but switching heirs is often better than building around them in The First Descendant.
This change in cell function lowers the body's ability to fight off toxins and weakens defenses when needed.

Inversion
Pick the Inversion Reinforcement that works best for your build and material. For builds that focus on skills, pick Adrenaline Rush with Probabilistic Recovery System and Arcade Circulation Tactic.
Equip gun-focused sets with Chill Focus Rounds for Void Erosion, Evolutionary Cutting, and Biodensity Augmentation. Malevolent Void Erosion 30 sets work better with chill rounds.
These reinforcement options give your active build choices passive boosts without needing you to make significant changes to how you're set up. Choose based on what you do most, not on a mix of activities in The First Descendant.
