Timberborn Guide | New Districts Expansion

Expansion of your Beaver Empire

Game Guide by Arne on  Dec 11, 2024

In Timberborn, you'll eventually reach the outskirts of your Town Center, and you'll need to expand using another method or risk having incredibly inefficient production lines.

Before knowing how to do it, one must understand what districts are and how to expand districts.

Districts

Districts are areas that are basically mini-cities. You can set the sizes and locations of these districts. Districts need District Centers, which are the Town Centers of each district. They employ builders and house the initial resources.

To maximize things, you should place new districts at the edges of the current one. To determine the edge of a district, you should place a path. On the path, you'll see a green line if it's connected to a District Center. As you stray further from the Center, the road goes from green to red and eventually stops. This is the end of your district.

Creating New Districts

To create a new district, place a District Center in the desired location. These structures are free, so don't worry about where to place them. Then, you need to create a District Gate between the new district and your main one. As soon as you do this, the boundary between the districts will also be set up.

Afterward, just connect the gates with paths, and you're all set.

Moving Districts

Sometimes, you want to move to a district or a district center. Remember that your main district center houses resources, so don't destroy that by any means. Place a new District Center in the location you want to move to. Then click on the old one and select the 'migrate population' option. Afterward, delete the old District Center and connect the new one with your paths.

Best Method for New Districts

Now, this is the most common and easiest method to create a district. This is also the most time-consuming. Essentially, you are repeating the beginning of the game and setting up a few things before committing to moving.

The setup involves building storage, a water pump, a farmhouse, a forester's hut, and arable land for both trees and agriculture. Ideally, you should also build housing.

Now, since this is the edge of your build area, it will take them a while to finish. However, once they do, you should wait until they're done filling up the storage slots. As soon as they do, pause the game, remove a path, and build a gate and a distribution center.

This method provides a steady start and ensures your new district does not die off. However, it requires a lot of resources and takes a while to get started.

Regardless, you should now know everything necessary to start building new districts.
