With large prize pools, dozens of major Esports events occur worldwide. While many of these events have yet to announce dates or locations, the following are some of the most popular events scheduled for 2023.
Apex Legends Global Series Year 3
Following the huge success of last year's Apex Legends tournament, Electronic Arts (EA) has announced that the Apex Legends Global Series (AGLS) Year 3 will begin with a preseason Split 1 in late 2022.
Split 2 and the remaining stages of the tournament will be completed in 2023. Along with the competition schedules, EA announced that AGLS Year 3 would use an updated pro league for regular season matches. Each region's Pro League can field thirty (30) teams for maximum high-level competition and qualification opportunities.
The International 2023
The International 2023 concludes the Dota Pro Circuit's year-long run (DPC). It is the tournament's 12th run, earning the moniker 'The International 12'.
It will culminate a year of competitive Dota Pro Circuit play. Each DPC Season is in three Tours: Winter, Spring, and Summer. A Tour consists of one Regional League and one Major tournament. These Tours allow competing teams to earn DPC points, the most reliable way for consistent teams to secure invitations to The International.
Valorant Champions Tour 2023
The Valorant Champions Tour (VCT) is among the most anticipated Esports community events. Riot Games recently announced that a new VCT would launch in 2023, and fans and professional teams alike can look forward to it.
More leagues, global events, and partnerships will be introduced in VCT 2023. For example, challenger events are held concurrently with other tournaments to allow players to level up and advance to Ascension tournaments. To top it all off, with an all-new competitive in-game experience, casual players can join the VCT 2023 competitive experience. It bridges the gap between VCT and each player's in-game progress, regardless of expertise or playstyle.
2023 League of Legends World Championships
The World Championship 2023 will be held in South Korea for the 13th time. It is the pinnacle of the League of Legends competition, and 2023 will be no different. The format, however, has changed significantly this year.
The season kicked off on January 10-11 with a two-day Season 2023 Kickoff event attended by players from nine leagues.
Taipei International Game Show 2023
With travel restrictions easing, the Asia Pacific Game Summit (APGS) anticipates the return of the Taipei Game Show as an in-person convention in 2023.
Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center Hall 1 will host the 2023 Taipei Game Show. It will include a business-to-business zone where game developers, publishers, advertisers, and vendors can meet to discuss partnerships and expand the game development ecosystem. Keynote speakers from the local and international game development scenes will also be invited.
The B2C zone, on the other hand, is an expo with a diverse selection of games ranging from mobile to console. Fans can try virtual reality (VR) games or participate in game demos.
