Key Matchup

Pre-Game Thoughts
This will turn out to be a great one, as Nebraska comes off the momentum of a close win off the Alabama Crimson Tide, and the Ohio State Buckeyes come off a dominating win over the new Division 1 team, the Jacksonville Ligers. What will decide this match is if the Ohio State offensive line, can contain Nebraska's ace in the hole, Ndamukong Suh. Suh, is a dominating force, who demands to be double covered. Although, with the speedy legs of star quarterback, Terrelle Pryor, Nebraska's defense will have one of it's toughest days.

Kirk picks Nebraska Cornhuskers.

After game Press conference with Neb coach Pelini

Pelini: I am very proud of those kids. They fought till the clock read 0:00. They never gave up and we will use that momentum for the rest of the year.

Sports Reporter: What did you think of OSU?

Pelini: Well to be honest, i think they have a great young leader in Pryor and there were times when he showed greatness. There was also times when he showed his age.

Sports reporter: What do you mean?

Pelini: Well i think today we lost that game not because Ohio state is better than Nebraska... We made mistakes and we beat ourselves.

Sports reporter: With that statement against one of the highest ranked teams in the country, you sound a little cocky there coach

Pelini: I believe that we could beat Ohio state any day, anywhere!

Sports Reporter: One last question coach, whats your predictions for the rest of the year?

Pelini: One game at a time, one game at time. That is all i have time for now. Have a good day.

walking out the door Pelini yells: "Undefeated the rest of the year!"

conference room goes silent.....

Magazine inside interview with OSU Coach

1-0 @ 1-0

Final Score: 38-35 Ohio State Buckeyes

Coach! How does it feel to win in that close game?

That will go down as one of the best games in my coaching career. I know it's only been 2 games so far, but 50 years from now I think I'll be remembering that game. It was a nail-biter and I'm just glad to get Nebraska off of our back. Aaron did a great job of nailing that kick. It shows us what we need to improve on to become contenders. That'll be one of our toughest oppenents so I'm glad they're behind us.

Just how good is this Nebraska team?

I think we all saw that for ourselves tonight. They can hang with the best of them. The Cornhuskers are definitely a run first team, so you have to manage blitzes and zones carefully. I can see them playing in a BCS game for the season closer.

What do you make of some individual performances from today's game?

Well for the most part I'm satisfied with everyone. We all need work on pass coverage, but we did a decent job and did good at putting pressure on the QB, all though we only had one sack. The three turnovers were a great asset though. On offense we got solid blocking, good recieving, good rushing, and Pryor was not only a great young leader but he stayed solid in keeping the offense diverse. Play calling wasn't bad either. [laughs]

Earlier you said Hyde would be starting. However he didn't get many carries. What happened?

The original gameplan didn't quite work out. We needed Herron back in the backfield in order to win, and instead our fullback [Martin] did a great job of what we were wanting Hyde to do, but he was a few steps faster to the ball which helped push us to a few extra yards (which actually helped win the game).

Next up is Toledo. How will you prepare for them?

Well, I'm just going to put it out there and say, Toledo isn't a powerhouse. But by no means will we take them lightly. We have to give them everything we've got and hopefully they will sharpen us up for upcoming conference play.

Lastly, it appears Bo Pelini is getting pretty cocky in his post game press conference, he said, "Well i think today we lost that game not because Ohio state is better than Nebraska... We made mistakes and we beat ourselves." and "I believe that we could beat Ohio state any day, anywhere!" also he claimed Nebraska would be "Undefeated the rest of the year!" Thoughts on this?

You know, coaches have different styles. I'm not going to be one to sit here and talk trash, I have more important things to get to.
