Wuthering Waves Guide | How To Reach Union Level 40

Getting 5-star echoes becomes much easier once you reach Union Level 40, and this guide shows how you can do just that.

Reaching Union Level 40 is essential if you want to access the higher tiers of the Data Bank, specifically level 18 and beyond, where the most coveted 5-star echoes become available.

By hitting this milestone, you can also ascend your characters past level 60, which is critical when you start tackling more challenging content.

Additionally, as your Union level rises, you unlock better Tacet Field rewards—streamlining your echo and material farming and making resource gathering far more efficient.

Prioritize Daily Activities

To gradually gain more Union experience, ensure you complete all the daily tasks that are offered. When you spend 20 Activity Points every day, you get 300 Union EXP.

If you use all 100 points, you get 1,500 Union EXP every day. There are time limits on these jobs, so it's essential not to skip them.

You will not fall behind if you log in every day to claim your daily prizes, even if you don't have much time to play that day. Setting aside time every day to do your daily tasks is a good way to make sure you consistently gain EXP.

Focus on Main Story Quests

Main Story Quests (MSQs) yield some of the most significant Union EXP rewards for the time you invest. Make moving through the main story, which includes the Rinascita plot quests, a top priority.

These quests not only give you a lot of Union Experience Points, but they also let you access new areas, features, and game mechanics that can help you move even more.

If you haven't tackled Rinascita yet, make it your next destination—completing these quests will significantly propel you toward level 40.

Tackle Companion and High-EXP Side Quests

In addition to the main plot, be on the lookout for Companion Quests and Side Quests that grant especially generous EXP—some of these even offer 500 Union EXP each.

Open your quest log periodically to see if any Companion Quests remain unfinished, and use the map's quest tracker to track down any high-EXP side objectives.

In Rinascita, many side quests are relatively quick to finish while providing a hefty EXP boost, so prioritize those whenever you have free time.

Maximize Exploration in Rinascita and Jinzhou

Exploration is one of the few sources of Union EXP that isn't restricted by time, and it often yields better returns than hunting down quests alone.

In Rinascita, chests, tidal heritage nodes, and exploration tasks are densely packed, making it easy to rack up EXP rapidly.

You can earn between 10 and 60 Union EXP per chest, while tidal heritage rewards grant 30 EXP for collecting five astrites and 50 EXP for ten astrites.

Aim for 100% exploration in Rinascita first, as it generally takes less time than fully exploring older areas like Jinzhou.

Keep an eye on the map's left corner for exploration tasks—things like activating beacons or opening caskets—that will help you complete every objective.

Don't forget to check your Guidebook afterward and claim any additional EXP rewards unlocked by your exploration progress; you can receive up to 15,000 extra EXP per rank once you've surpassed Union Level 40.

Defeat World Bosses for First-Time Clears

Every world boss you defeat for the first time—including the new Nightmare Echoes—grants a flat 500 Union EXP, even if you don't collect any of the associated rewards.

If you still have world bosses you haven't faced, take advantage of this quick EXP source. You don't need to spend waveplates to do this; hop into each one once to collect the first-time clear EXP.

If you haven't cleared all of them yet, you could net around 10,000 Union EXP simply by checking this off your list.

Spend Waveplates During Bountiful Crescendo Events

When a Bountiful Crescendo event is active, always prioritize spending your waveplates on event-specific runs. These events provide double Union EXP—so if you use 180 waveplates on the three daily event runs, you'll earn a massive amount of EXP compared to regular stages.

This strategy is by far the most efficient way to grind Union levels, but it does require balancing against your other needs, such as ascension materials for characters like Changli. To prevent waveplates from capping out at the daily maximum of 240, be proactive.

If you'll need waveplates for farming materials later, try to spend them on Tacet Fields that match your characters' elements. This way, you'll collect both echoes and Union EXP in a single run.

Avoid Wasting Solvents Prematurely

Although using solvents to refill waveplates can speed up your progress, you'll get a better return by saving them for higher-level SOL3 phases—ideally around Union Level 50—where Tacet Field rewards are more generous.

That said, if you're in a rush to hit Level 40, spending four to five solvents per day can be worthwhile. Just be strategic: once you've reached your immediate goal, revert to saving solvents so you can maximize long-term efficiency when tackling endgame content.

Complete All Guidebook Phases

Finally, don't overlook the additional Union EXP waiting for you in the Guidebook's newer phases. These tasks often stack up quietly in the background while you're focusing on quests and exploration.

Periodically check your Guidebook for any unclaimed tasks or ranks, claim the EXP they offer, and you'll find yourself much closer to Union Level 40 than you might expect.

By combining Guidebook rewards with your daily activities, main quests, exploration, and world boss clears, you'll be well on your way to unlocking everything Union Level 40 has to offer.
